#1 before my IVF cycle
#2 the instant I found out I was pregnant
#3 my first visit after I was in my 2nd trimester
they will check again once i'm in my 3rd trimester and then again after birth
I noticed last time I had my blood drawn on the orders there are check boxes for what trimester you are in, so I'm betting it's routine to be tested at each trimester. Of course if your levels are off i'm sure they'll be watching a lot closer. So far, mine have stayed within normal limits.

Well, I don't have an endo. My RE discovered my hypothyroidism. Between her and my OB, they have been very thorough about checking my thyroid. I have had my thyroid checked every six weeks since getting pg. My medication only had to be adjusted once at the beginning of my pregnancy. I have read that getting your thyroid tested once a trimester is typical. If you have concerns, ask your doc if she/he can test you more frequently. Hand in there!

You chould be getting you blood tested every month!!! With my current pregnancy and DD they did it every month!!!! The stress on your body can make your thyroid act in many different ways, if your thyroid is off you can have a miscarriage.
Also make sure they check it six weeks after you give birth at your six week visit. They did not do it with mine and it dropped to nothing but what i was taking in pill form every morning. It made what could of been a wonderful couple of months to horrible.

I have hypothyroidism and other than my initial dr visit when I was first pg, my dr didn't want to see me until after the first trimester was over. 1 week before my appt I started to bleed heavily.
I was told I was miscarrying and was on strict bedrest for 2 weeks. Every time I would get up for a shower or make something to eat I would bleed. At the end of the 2 weeks I hadn't miscarried and the dr finally figured out it was my thyroid - they bumped up my dose, checked it monthly after that and everything went well.
I strongly recommed a monthly check. For me, it would have saved a lot of heart ache.
Just my opinion and my experience.

I am congenitally hypothyroid (born with a non-functioning thyroid gland). Before pg I was on .275 mg. While pg I saw Endo every 6 weeks for a TSH, T3 and T4 test. By the end of my pg I was up to .325 mg. After pg I have gradually moved back down to .275 and seeing endo every 2-3 months for the first 6 months, and now I am back to 6 month visits.
My levels were fine this time round, have to test again in a manth and a half, they also checked my babs thyroid doing my u/s and thigns were just as they should be.
