Question ignore list - threads

I apologize if this question has been asked. I ran a search and didn't really find anything. I also apologize if I'm not supposed to be asking questions related to the board upgrades yet.

I was just wondering why the ignore list no longer offers the option of ignoring threads. I've checked and it looks as if we are only allowed to ignore users now.

I sometimes ignored threads to make it easier to find new non-buddy group threads in the Pregnant Cysters forum and now it seems I can no longer do that. I'm not trying to be lazy, it's just that there are A LOT of buddy group threads in that particular forum and sometimes I miss posts where people are asking questions, etc. because those posts kind of get lost.

Will the ability to ignore threads be restored or has it been permanently disabled with the board upgrades?

Thank you, and once again, I apologize if this is not a valid question or if it has been answered elsewhere.

Good question...

The Ignore Thread function is not part of the core board software (even though it should be)... I'm not sure the mod was created for the updated software, but I'll check (I like that feature, too).

90% of mods are created by volunteers, so board owners have to wait until someone updates the mod (if they can't code...and I can't code.)

In the TTC forum, all of the 'buddy' threads were moved to a sub-forum, so that might be an option for the pregnant cysters (that way you could just ignore the entire forum, and eliminate it from 'get new posts')

Another option is to require all buddy threads to utilize the new "GROUPS" function: http://www.soulcysters.net/group.php

Maybe start a poll there to see what everyone thinks.

Thanks, Kat. I agree that maybe having a buddy group sub-forum would be a feasible solution if, for some reason, the ignore thread feature cannot be re-installed.

Should I contact the moderator(s) of that forum so that they can poll the group? I don't want to overstep my bounds by doing it myself.

It's not a problem if you post it yourself, but if you would feel more comfortable contacting a mod, that's cool, too.

There appears to be a new, more comprehensive 'ignore' mod created. I'll add this to the list of things still to be installed.

SC is a VERY heavily modded board, so some of the mods have to added one by one to check for incompatibilities (and to make sure the board doesn't crash or blow up )

Anyway, here's the description of how the new mod will work (assuming it's bug free):

Quote:
Comprehensive Ignore System

The Comprehensive Ignore System allows your users to ignore more than just a users text in a post.

First, users can ignore entire threads. These threads will then not show up in searches, forumdisplay, and "new posts".

Second, if a user puts someone on their ignored list, they stay ignored, meaning their threads will not show up in forum displays, searches, or "new posts".

Users can select to ignore an entire forum, so that they no longer see it, nor do search results that are located in those forums show to the user.

Complete user group control for each of these features.

Admin can also clear a users ignores when editing a user.

Users can review and remove ignores from their UserCP.
