Question im a hairball

hello everyone... im new here...it's good to see there's a support group for women with PCOS.

i was recently diagnosed with PCOS, march 2008, although ive already had my suspicions way before that. what got me to finding out was the fact that my hairiness has been so annoying! hair is growing everywhere and fast! ive tried everything--shaving, depilatory creams, waxing, plucking, minimizing lotions, etc...nothing ever works!the stubble miraculously grows out within half a day

im on my second course of provera and havent noticed anything out of the ordinary, aside from the mood swings.

im wondering...will my hair follicles stop growing hair once my PCOS is gone?my brows are way too dark too...any ex-hirsutes out there?

i do hope so...else i would think my therapy was pointless

Welcome! The symptoms of PCOS can be very annoying and frustrating. I'm newly diagnosed as well, and from what I understand PCOS doesn't actually go away. You can manage the symptoms with medicines, diet, exercise ect but it never fully goes away. If you were to stop taking the medications the symptoms will likely return.

It seems like an uphill battle, but so many people on here are able to manage their PCOS (or at least parts of it) and hopefully some of them will comment on your post too. I also hear that once you get your hormones better in check many women find that their hair grows more slowly and/or not as dark and coarse. Good luck!!

I'm fairly new to all this too.... I tried laser on my chin and below my navel. It helped some, but it hasn't completely gone away. I do feel a lot better about myself (especially the chin) so i guess it was worth the money...
