Default Im new

Hi all.
I am new to this as of today.
I have had pain during ovulation for about 10 years now. Been to hospitals and doctors all over the place being told that i was constipated to having the flu.
Over the years I had five miscarriages and blessed with 2 boys. However, today, I went to my ob/gyn and he had done blood work for me. The tests came back saying I was borderline diabetic and was put on metformin. Then he continued to say that i had polycistic ovaries. I had had an epiosotomy, 2 kids and been everywhere and for some stupid reason they just find out now? My question is, is that I dont have any of the symptons other than pain and high cholesterol. What is metformin do? I dont even know what PCOS is and what it can do to me? Please if anyone has any information let me know.
Thank you
sunray

hey sunray, welcome to SoulCysters.

It can be totally overwhelming to get a diagnosis, especially when the doctors send you on your way, leaving you with myriad questions.

I'm not very well versed in all that is Metformin. There is a Met board here, so I'm sure if you post there you'll get many insightful posts.

PCOS is weird in that what symptoms some have, others will not. For example, women without cystic ovaries may have PCOS while women with cysts on their ovaries may not have PCOS. Some women with PCOS struggle with insulin resistance and weight gain, while others have no insulin issues or weight problems.

In the "Newbies" section of this board, you can find lots of informative articles and posts. I'd urge you to take some time to read through those to get a better idea of what's going on in your body.

I'm glad you found us, though. I've had nothing but great support, advice and knowledge given to me here.

Wink hello there sunray

hi there, welcome! i am new too.
listen, you might want to do some research on the drugs this doc has put you on. are you overweight? if not, you can control your diabetes naturally with diet and exercise, herbs, etc.
i would recommend visiting some sites on PCOS and learning as much as you can.
i have PCOS AND diabetes and am controlling it naturally without drugs. i keep my sugar stable by cutting carbs, sugar, and processed foods. i also run 4-5 times a week to keep myself in shape.
just remember that there are many alternative treatments to this disease, dont limit yourself to taking a drug everyday for the rest of your life. doctors dont know everything.
i have been taking natural remedies for my PCOS for about a year, and have been having a period every month, which is a big step for me!
you can email me anytime if you have any questions! good luck!
