Points: 2,727.23 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,727.23 | I was just diagnosed recently, too. I am sorry you are so down--but with a diagnosis, there is treatment and hope! I went to my ob/gyn after 6 months of trying to conceive without any regular periods, and she sent me to a Reproductive Endocrinologist. If you have insurance coverage, you may want to find a specialist who can help control your PCOS symptoms, and give you advice on TTC when the time comes. The drug options seem to be effective, but your doctor should tailor them to your case, of course.
The information on this web site has been invaluable to me--read up on the PCOS symptoms and fixes--there is probably advice on every one you listed, along with helpful hints.
There are some recommended books, also: The Hidden Epidemic is one I plan on getting ASAP, but I'm sure there are others at the bookstore or library.
Take care of yourself!

Browse the stickies at the top of each board and ask as many questions as you like--someone on here is bound to be able to help. Now you know what's wrong, you can start to get it fixed. |

You've come to the right place for information, just explore the boards and ask questions in the right places!
I was diagnosed just over a year ago and it made me really down too. But things do get better as you start managing the condition and get used to the idea of having it. So don't stress too much.
My advice: get on a low GI diet ASAP... that helped me lose weight and get rid of lots of symptoms. Look here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/156924457X/qid=1119263255/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/102-1148235-1846510?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

Low carbing is so HARD! I've all but given up on it so I'm not a good example. My doc told me to cut out all sugar since I'm a sugar addict, and while its nearly impossible to cut out ALL sugar, I have gotten used to not drinking juices, and only drinking Splenda or diet drinks.
I'm so happy for you!!! Let us know how its going! See you around the boards!

Offer me a bagel or a doughnut and I would pick the bagel anyday. I don't even need to add to my carbs. I am perfectly happy eating a plain bagel or slice of Italian bread. Unfortunately that is my problem with losing weight. I did do Atkins once and lost 75 pounds but I couldn't stick with it and gained most back. |
