Default im so confused

I saw my doctor yesturday because im having alot of pain in my lower stomach toward the right side and chills so she did a pelvic exam and believes that i have an ovarian cyst so im gonna get that checked tommorow during a sonogram.Anyway while i was there she asked me if i was taking glucophage and i explained to her that i tried a couple of months ago and my hypoglycemia was real bad on the 500 xr per day so she told me that she would like me to try again and that i can cut an xr tablet in half(it wont be as potent even though it's time released)and to build up to the full tablet. She's telling me that alot of my hypoglycemia and cosmetic problems(ance, hirsutism) will be helped by the glucophage. Now i spoke with my endo about this last month and she wants me to stick with low carbing and exercise instead of glucophage but it is up to me she said.I dont want to concieve or anything i just want my health back.So now i dont know what to do.I have a full bottle of gluc sitting in my medicine cabinet but all i can think about is the horrible diareah and hypoglycemia i had last time.Im very confused.Should i do the dieting and exercise for awhlie or should i also combine the glucophage?I've read that glucophage wont do much for acne or hairgrowth. And my hypoglycemia has gotten better with the bettereating alone.I dont want to ruin a good thing you know? But i also dont want to not be taking somthing that could benefit me too.

Just an FYI-
I also suffer from PCOS and have just started taking gluco XR 1500 today. After reading literature about the gluco XR it specifically states NOT to break, crush, or chew the pills.
The pill is to be swallowed whole. You might want to question
your MD about her advice. Vanessa

I'd say it's worth another shot now that you've been low carbing for a while. I mean, you already know the worst that can happen. If the gluc you have already isn't XR you might want to get a prescription for the XR and start out with 500mg a day. It's suppose to be easier with the symptoms and I can say that I've never had any. Cutting an XR pill will probably ruin it's extended release properties and make it the same on your system as regular Gluc so I wouldn't bother with that idea. If you're going to do that then you might as well cut the regular stuff you've got now(if that's what you have), but you'd probably still have side effects.
