hey every one i just signed up to this site and i just found out that i have pcos about 4 days ago and i have no idea what to do or how to react to the news.. i mean im only 16 and they say that i must have had it for a long time because of all the damage it has done to my body. they just never found it till i changed docs. well i just need some advise because i just recently went through a cancer scare so people at school already treat me different and they never realy treated me normaly because i have always been well over weight. so does anyone have any advice for me.. see i have been over weight sence like kindergarden and i have always had this hormon inbalanc thing. i used to have this doc that just told my mom and i that i would grow out of everything, i mean i have high blood pressur oh you will grow out of it or the extra hair grown and oll the stif like that. but when it came to a time when i realy needed to she her and she told me that oh im to bussy so i went to see a different doc and he had me get an ultra sound and within two days they found that i had a realy larg tomer and it was the size of a VOLLYBALL ya it was big. and he found it on a thursday and they removed it the next monday. so after that my blood presur didnt chang or anything so i had to go through so many test and eventualy after 1 or 2 more doctors latter i found out that i have pcos and that was only a couple of days ago so if anyone has gone through or have had olmost all the symptoms i need advice can any one give any to me .... well i guess thats me so thanx

Welcome to SC! You're not alone in your new-ness, don't worry; we've all been there. You may wanna check out the teen threads, some of them deal with issues like you're experiencing. As far as advice goes, I know a lot of people say things like 'just be yourself,' but honestly, I know from experience that people can be stupid, superficial, and generally judgemental, so unfortunately that doesn't always produce the most ideal results. Then again, being anything but yourself just creates bigger problems, so I'd say just be yourself, be as friendly as you can, and hang in there. You'll be done with high school sooner than you think, and then you'll get a fresh start in college or at your job or whatever you choose to pursue. Best of luck to you!!!

Evening all, I too was just diagnosed with PCOS on last week Wednesday. 24 yo and my head is spinning. I look foward to gaining and sharing knowledge with you all.
I'm new here as well, was diagnosed this past Friday. It's nice to meet you!! There seems to be TONS of information on this site, I'm glad to have found it since I know absolutely nothing about PCOS.
