the title for this topic should be changed, some of us with PCOS don't have cysts on our ovaries - it's only one of the symptoms that some people have when they have pcos. PCO would be correct but not PCOS
thanks for the pics. ive seen some like them. i would like to have some of what mine personlay look like. im gonna ask the doc for some i think. lol although i know they are nastly looking! lisattc
EWWW! I feel very concerned about this white shell business - That seems really not good - like maybe having the surface of ovary enclosed in a shell like that would be an obstruction/physical barrier to ovulation and proper ovarian function -- ??perhaps leading to the formation of cysts??.
I too would like to know more about the white shell like what it is made of and why/under what circumstances it forms and how common it is for women with PCOS to have. I wonder if there is anything that can be done about the shell or if that aspect of things ever gets better with treatment. Also can someone tell me,is the main purpose of the ovarian drilling to leave at least part of the ovary surface free from the shell or it is mainly to distroy at least some of the cysts?
ty for sharing the pics.... how informative! ..i have only seen mine on trans u/s... the first time i saw them the were like pearls...this last time was like honeycombs... i enjoyed seeing the pics as much as they made me squirm
Thanks for finding those pics and sharing them. They pretty eye opening. To think that my ovaries really look like that, makes me cringe. I had the lap surgery and my dr did do the ovarian drilling. I never saw the pictures. He said that my periods should be regular for about 6 months after and I shouldn't have a problem ovulating. Well guess what? I didn't come on at all after the surgery, just my luck. I had to go back to the dr a few months later for provera to start my period. I just hope I don't have to have it done again, very painful for me. But, good luck to whoever's having it done.

Hi! I'm new here. I have pcos for three years now. Actually I know it for three years. After doctor told me about it I lost my weight and startred to take antibaby pills.(Sorry if my English is terrible, but I don't know it well.) Anyway after a year of treatment I lost 20 kg ! and doctor said that everything is fine. Now I put on weight again and I'm afraid that it all came again. But I must compare pictures of pcos ovaries with normal ovary couse mu USG shows not more than 5 "cysts" or I don't know how to say it in English- pops and one was big as it should be..
