Default (imitating Barbarino)"I'm so confussed!"

I need some help w/my herbal treatment of PCOS. Before you tell me to see a professional, there are NONE w/in 300 miles of me. And even if there were, we are too financially strapped to afford a trip.

Some info:
I self diagnosed about 1 year ago, but didn't begin treating myself until about last March.
I am estrogen dominate PCOS.
I am 5 ft tall and weigh 200lbs.
I am IR, even though I "passed" the test.
My symptoms are: obesity, irregular periods, missed periods, infertility (didn't know it was caused by PCOS until 7 years later), no ovulation, high blood presssure, depression, mood swings, irritability, skin problems, acne, - that's all I can think of right now.

I started taking herbs in March, using Black Cohosh and Vitex. I had to stop the Black Cohosh because it gave me headaches. I really like the Vitex, though and it has mostly regulated my periods.

Then about May, I started taking Red Clover Blossoms and it just seems to make me feel better overall. It esp. seemed to help clear my sinuses.

I also take CoEzQ10.

I recently started taking Saw Palmetto, Chromium Picolinate and Green Tea Extract, hoping they would help me w/IR and loose some weight, but I have had absolutely no luck w/weight loss.

Here's the run down:
Vitex 500mg -2 per day
Red Clover 430mg-2 per day
Saw Palmetto 540mg -1 per day
Chromium Picolinate 200mcg per day
Co EzQ10-100mg per day
Green Tea Extract-315mg-2 per day

Does anyone know if these are what I need to be taking and in the right amounts?

HI, I don't know if I can be of much help, except that I think it's great you are trying to help yourself. However, along with the herbs, diet is just as important. A lot of people here swear by low carbing and staying away from simple carbs. i used to take green tea and chromium picolinate and it did help quite a bit. Good luck to you

Default I've reviewed the IR diets..

and it seems that I've been eating that way all along, except I was really bad about eating more than what they would consider a serving. But since May, I haven't been eating much of anything I would consider to be "bad" food (candy, processed crackers, cookies, etc.) and I haven't lost a bit! I am sooo frustrated!

Otherwise, the books say to eat foods like fat-free cheeses, artificial sweeteners, "lite" foods, etc. and I am just not willing or able to do that. It would mean buying twice as many groceries (one for DH and DS and another for me) and I can barely afford to feed us now.

I was hoping the chromium and green tea would help, but I don't see any effect so far. I'm wondering if I need to up the dosage?
