I just wanted to give all you girls a heads up. I was diagnosed with PCOS for the last 10 years but just recently started seeing an RE who did a whole slew of tests. When my blood results came back I had a very high 17-hydroxyprogesterone. What this means is I have LOCAH late onset congenital adrenal hyperplasia AKA nonclassical congenital adrenal hyperplasia AKA adult onset CAH. It is a genetic disorder that presents very much like PCOS but usually without the weight issues (although you can have IR too). Please make sure you have been tested for this because it is pretty rare so most docs don`t test for it or even know very much about it. The treatment is very different from PCOS treatment so knowing which one you have is crucial. I just felt upset that I had never heard about it or been tested for it until now so I wanted to spread the word.

So...could you tell us a little more about LOCAH and the differences between it and PCOS and the differences in treatment?
