Default Increased Exercise and Increased Menses

My period is all over the map, which is unsual. I am thinking it is because of the increased exercise I am doing. I have been spotting. Fun. Fun. Has that happened to anyone else? My periods are pretty regular now and have been for several years so this is very unusual for me.

Anytime I would do something different (start a diet/exercise alot), my body would put on the brakes and yell, "Whoa!" It could be just your body readjusting to your exercise. This is most likely what is happening.

If it continues, I would go see your Dr. Recurring spotting for a long time could mean something else. Just as an example, I had spotting for a year, while I was on birth control. After getting an HSG done, they found out uterine polyps were causing my spotting. Harmless, as they were benign, but a nuisance and interferred with TTC.

*hugs* I know how annoying spotting can be!

Before I even knew I had PCOS, I learned about spotting when increasing exercise. I went off my BCPs in October 2008. After not having a period and not being pregnant, I decided in January (yay New Years resolutions) I started exercising daily. Within 3 days I was spotting. I'm pretty sure had I continued to exercise like a good girl I would've had a period, but I went back to work and my resolution was over by the end of January. =)

I have read that exercise training does improve insulin sensitivity and we all know what improving insulin sensitivity does to all of our other hormones.

Thanks. It seems like I will be good for 2 days then I have a day of spotting, etc. I am sure its from exercise as I just had my annual physical 3 weeks ago and everything was good.
