Exclamation increased testosterone levels

Is there anything I can do to lower them? Do I really need to? (We are ttc) Any info on this problem would be helpful. Thanks

The only thing I know to tell you is that with diet and the right medication for you, it will decrease.

I have it too and it makes me MEAN. Not to mention the hormonal issues.

Talk to your doctor about it. So far I have been told, low carb, low sugar, exercise and Glucophage or the like will be how to treat it. Good luck!

high testerone can make it difficult to concieve. Right now my Endo and Gyno are working together on this.

Spironolactone (water pill) been known to reduce testerone as well as certain birth control pills. But since your TTC thats not an option. Talk to your Dr bout other methods to possibly reduce the testerone and keep us posted. Theres many women here that are in the same boat

4 years ago, when the symptoms were just starting to get severe, mine was 75!!!!!!!!

My endo wants to do new test and I shudder to think what it is now.

Just an FYI my testosterone was 49 and my Endo considered that high...said it was the cause of my small amt. of facial hair. Also said it wasn't so high...probablly why I don't have a lot of hair and problems with it elsewhere. But, that is why they put me on Yasmin (BCP) to get it down. He said he considers anything over 50 high. They just took my blood again on the 30th...hope it will be down...I've been on the Yasmin for about 6 months. My sex drive is definetelly decreased ...my skin has cleared up and the hair is minimizing...but I have lost 37 pounds...so my Dr. said that is a BIG help with all the PCOS symptoms.

Good luck.

Wow. 50 is high? Danggggggggg. Mine is insane then! Yikes. I tried Yasmin and it threw me into a depression like I've never known. I also tried Topamax for my migraines and it made me so confused! Did you know Topamax is being tested as a weight loss drug?

BtW Evita, I'm a native Texan! Born In Dallas, raised in Fort Worth. Just over a year ago hubby and I had to move to Illinois, in Aurora, an hour outside of Chicago.

I miss Texas, but NOT the heat!!

yes, I was so excited when my neurologist said that one of the side effects of the Topamax was WEIGHT LOSS!!! I lost 20 pounds in 4 months without trying just because of the Topamax...and my migraines have diminished greatly. It was a godsend because they had me on depakote a couple years ago (another anti seizure) to prevent the migraines and it makes you pack on the pounds. I don't know if I would take it souly for weight loss though, because I don't think it's that powerful. I have to work pretty hard at my weight loss now. But...I'm on a relativly low dose. The side effects that come at higher doses might not be worth it for weight loss...but hey...if someone can tollerate them then more power to them.

I know what you mean about the heat...though today is beautiful. It is sunny and right now it is about 80 degrees! I would miss Texas too! I tell my boyfriend all the time that I love him, but if we marry that he better not get any big ideas! LOL

I am so thrilled Topamax works for you! Yay!

I am just starting my diet and exercise. I have been so debilitated with PTSD, depression, severe fatigue, and migraines that I couldn't THINK about it. This is very tough and I've only "tried" (albeit half-heartedly) for a few days.

Illinois is GORGEOUS! We have wild rabbits, deer, moose, seagull, and geese running around.

Having snow during Christmas is wonderful too! It is so GREEN here. Amazing. I DO love it up here, I have to admit it, and as a proud Native Texan, that's hard to say, but I will always thank Texas for shaping me into the person I am today.

by doc and lab use a different way of measuring testerone i guess. Cause for a women it is supposed to be around 110 with the test he uses. Men usually range 150+ mine was up to 215 when i first started treatment. Its down to 185 and wont go any lower

"Total Testosterone
6-86 ng/dl
Testosterone is secreted from the adrenal gland and the ovaries. Most would consider a level above 50 to be somewhat elevated. "

I just found this on the INCIID, PCOS FAQs page. Just thought some of you might find it helpful.

I'm not a Native Texan. I like to say Native Californian, Texan at Heart! I moved here when I was 15, so really I have spent more of my life here (17 years) and if you think about it they are the years I remember more...as I remember nothing of my first five years of life...and have only the fleeting memories of my youth in California. I have spent most of my formidable years here in the DFW area. I've never had a white Christmas. Well, I guess maybe a couple years we have had some frost on the ground that looked white...and ummm a couple years ago we had a dusting of snow...I remember that...I bet it would be nice.

Good people come out of Texas...Illinois is lucky to have you!
