Default Increased your own Metaformin?

Has anyone done this? I have been on Met 1500 mg for one year and the only thing it has done for me is the weight loss. I currently weigh 109lbs. and I am still waiting for AF to kick in on its own. I am thinking maybe a need a little more? I did my last injectible cycle in June which ended in a chemical pregnancy. I am looking into some herbal remedies, possibly Vitex. I am grasping at anything right about now. My insurance no longer covers infertility and I have to wait until Open Enrollment to get on DH insurance. Anyone have any ideas I can try?

I know you are feeling desperate for something, but I would hesitate to adjust my own meds...I think you need to speak with your physician before you do that. The side effects of this drug would be compounded, and perhaps if after 12 months it isn't working, they need to persue an endocrinologist or other avenues for you.

Good luck!

Hi there,

It sounds like you are very frustrated, having to deal w/ health insurance on a normal basis is maddening--much less when they stop covering things!

I have noticed no changes for me on 1500mg. of Glucophage, so I have been thinking about upping to 2000mg on my own as well. I actually have taken an extra pill here or there, when I know I am going to eat more carbs than normal (I am of average weight, want to lose ten pounds). I am not necessarily worried about any health side effects, but I suppose each person varies.

I have been taking a pill version of vitex and dong quai but just switched to the liquid version as some feel this yields better results.

Good luck!
