So I went to the Gyno today. Actually the PA did my pap and we had a decent conversation. Finally I have found someone who does not want to just automatically throw me into surgery. She ordered some blood work and an ultra sounds. Even though 2 other doctors have Dx me w/PCOS they still need to run tests for everything. I am having my u/s next Friday along w/my blood work. She said her main concern is me not having a period for almost 8 months. She said me not being on any birth control and going that long is dangerous. She said I am high risk for Endometrial Cancer. She said she can guess my Progesterone is low, my estrogen is high. She also said because of this I will have to have my period induced. She said 2 of the most common ways is w/Provera or a D&C. Provera would be the cheapest way, but I know what I went through the last time, getting sick, heavy bleeding, the worst pain of my life....If I went that route I know for a fact I would have to be off of work....that is how heavy I go, and being on my feet for 11 hours a day would not work. She even told me I would probably have to be off of work. I will know more after I get all my tests done and they get the results and I meet with them. No Rx at the time. She told me for the pain to just take 800mg of Ibuprofen every 4-6 hours or when needed. She said there might even be more options as far as inducing my period. She did say that they will no put me through another surgery (besides a D&C if needed) unless it was absolutely nessecary. She was upset when I told her what I went through w/my previous doctor. She said it sounds like he don't need to be practicing at all, which he isn't, at least not in this town. She told me they was gonna help me and hopefully get me through this the easiest way. I have never been to a female Gyno, but I am glad I chose this one since they sound like they actually want to help me and just not throw me into surgery like the others.
Has anyone ever had their period induced and what method was used? I would really like some input on this and any advice you may have.

I have always had AF induced with either a combo of estradiol and progesterone or just progesterone (although alone progesterone didn't always induce) oh and of course my met. Without the Met AF just wont come when induced, doesn't come at all if not induced.

Kalyn, same story as yours with these changes, I went without period for 14 months and became very fat and had water retention and all other nuances. After doing a endometric biopsy she said it's not cancerous and comforted me that it's common for severely hormonal PCOS patients (I didn't have a single cyst found in ultrasound but the syndrome is strong)
For the first time endo gave me progesterone - 500 mg pills to be taken 2 times a day and stop after 5 days, I had a period after a week of that course and it was pretty normal with little cramping.
Endo asked me repeat this for 3 months in a row so as to simulate a 28 day cycle and with in these months I worked out a lot (A lot is ...a lot)and watched my diet (Absolutely no sugars and fats) and toolk 500 mg met every day and after that my cycle is back not 28 but a 42 day cycle. Now all I take is met but if I eat carbs, sugars and stop working out the cycle is missing.
It's like one of those energy driven Television sets, you can see the show aslong as you peddle :d
You should look in prometrium. Thats what my doctor used to have me on a long time ago, but because I have depression, it made it 10 times worse during the 10 days that I had to take the pills.
My doctor had also put me on Provera for 3 months to bring my periods and they were horrible I was bleeding & very heavily and had big clumps of blood coming out adn very bad cramps and I still did not ovulate so she took me off of it and since then a period had not returned :[
They have put me on provera to start my periods- thy told me should take 5-10 days before period start. Then will carry out tests on day 21. In the new year I will start clomid.
kamarepair - Thanks for sharing your story with me. I am still very worried about what is going to show up in all my tests, but trying to keep a positive attitude. I'm sure stressing over everything is not going to make my situation any better.

i hadn't had a period in 11 years (yeah, YEARS) and my doctor didn't start going on about endometrial cancer... sheesh, that seems harsh to say before you've even had an ultrasound that she's seen the results of.
anyway, when i told my dr it had been that long, she immediately put me on Provera for 14 days. i started spotting on the 12th day so i stopped taking it (per dr's orders) and had a period that lasted exactly 7 days. it was really heavy in the middle, but it tapered off in a gradual way.
i had my ultrasound the day after my first spotting, so my endometrial stripe was rather large (although there really is no NORM for a menstruating woman). i'm now on birth control and we're gonna see if i have another period this month. assuming i do, i will have another ultrasound after it's over and see if the stripe has gone down. she said that if it hasn't, then we'll talk about what comes next.

Prior to knowing I had PCOS I would get a period a year. Some of them quite severe. When I was finally dx'd I was given provera(and I had not had a period for 6+ months) it was actually not so bad. I found the cramps more tolerable than my yearly natural cycles. The only downside is Provera makes me an incredible *****!
I would say avoid having a D&C unless there is no alternatives. Although very rare I am living proof that things can go wrong. After 3 corrective hysteroscopies I still have scar tissue and always will. This scar tissue is now another problem that will haunt me for the rest of my life.
My dr induced with 10 days on provera and about 4 days later I had a period. The first month was really bad(very heavy and lasted long), Dr said it was due to the fact that I had not had one for about 5 months (the lining was very thick due to lack of periods). The following months on provera I had normal periods. I just finished my first round of cholomid on the day 2 this month and am waiting or a positive OPK. A D&C seems like it would be much worse.

I went about 2 years without a period. Right after getting diagnosed my RE said i needed to have a period induced because my lining was very thick. I got a progesterone shot and got a period a few days later. She told me to start taking ibuprofen that same day because i would cramp, I also started met so i think that also helped. It wasn't too bad even though period was quite heavy.

I will probably go w/the Provera (even though I am scared to take it). I really don't want to go w/a D&C. I just keep remembering how bad my periods were (not just the 1st one) while on Provera. I was literally bedridden w/cramps and the bleeding was so heavy I couldn't do anything. And this creates a problem since I am on my feet 11 hours a day 3-4 days a week. Maybe my dr will have other options once she gets my u/s results and blood work back.

I am on the last day (day10) of taking provera. Wile I have been taking the tablet I've been so depressed, crying all the time! So cant wait to stop taking it. Although my period hasnt come yet? Is that normal? My last period was 8th June.
