Has anyone else noticed that they have to deal with inflammation now that they have PCOS? How do you treat it? I am particularly interested in natural remedies.
I am new to this and just got diagnosed with PCOS. I work in a natural living whole foods store and As soon as I found out I asked if there was anything i could take. She recommened I take Selenium.. (google it and research it) and figure what you need for your endocrine system. I bought some Alive vitamins.. they have a lot of extra's for a multivitimin. I first did a 7 day clense.. this seemed to help a bit. Then I started taking the selenum with meals and i'm taking the vitamins.. which we need to have ACES. Vitamin A , Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Selenium and I also take eyebright. I haven't noticed much results just yet i'm just started but.. that way I know i'm getting what I need. Selenium is not a diet pill or anything but its promotes good health and it is good for your thyroid and petuitary gland. Hope that helps if you have any other questions My work has dr.'s of natural medicines I could speak with for you. There is also I know a long list of herbs that are good for us.. but someone told me they are not safe if you don't know how to properly take them or use them or cook with them..unlike herbs we normally use to cook with. So I thought it couldn't hurt to get some extra vitamins. I am taking extra Iron as well though cause I am bleeding excessivly. My pain was so bad the other night I went to the ER and they told me to go home.. and no one seems to care much.. so I don't want to get anemic. I have an appointment tomorrow though.. and will find out more.
I wish you luck.

Honestly the benefits are too much to type. I believe taking fish oil helped to shrink a 2 inch cyst on my ovary. Also if you have a lot of caffeine in your diet you should get rid of that right away, because caffeine causes inflammation. Buy fish oil which has been tested free of mercury and other contaminants, and take about 6 capsules a day. There is also a liquid form too which I'm not a fan of trying, so I just stick with the capsules. I was taking Nordic Naturals for a while there, but if you're doing more than 2 a day that can get expensive. Just google fish oil and inflammation and see what you come up with. More specifically, google fish oil and Omega-3s. Hope this helps.
My naturopath and chiro say to take at least 2 teaspoons a day. You can do pills or straight from a bottle. If you take pills it's a good idea to at least once measure the actual liquid to make sure you're getting enough. 6 pills should be about right. I take the liquid form (Carlson brand) and store it in the fridge. I have the lemon flavored and take a shot of grape juice after and I'm good to go. It should not taste fishy - if it does it has gone bad.
If you chose to start taking it don't buy the cheapest stuff you can find (ie buying it at Costco). It's one of those things were quality is important.
It's great for inflammation and a bunch of general heath stuff. It's one of the things I attribute to my mostly pain free life now (after 10 years of pain).
