i want to give some information about PCOS to my hubby and family and close friends, to help them better understand PCOS and what it puts my body and emotions through, especially since we're about to ATTEMPT to embark upon the journey to parenthood, and i know it will be difficult, with many emotional highs and lows. any suggestions about articles that are super informative but also easy to understand?
also, i'm thinking of blogging about this in other networking circles such as myspace, even though it is a somewhat sensitive situation.... mostly for my own outlet, but also because i know there are many people surrounding me who will be interested and want so badly for me to have a baby. and who knows? maybe i will end up helping someone else who hasn't spoken up about their own situation? anyway, my question is, does anyone have any advice about being more "public" or outspoken (within certain boundaries of course) about my PCOS and this whole process we're about to go through with trying to become pregnant? any warnings? suggestions? anything is welcome.
My advice before doing any public speaking is to really understand the research that's out there on PCOS, and speak from a foundation of FACTS, rather than 'popular myths' that you may hear or read.

what i meant by being "public" was more about sharing my personal experiences on social networking such as facebook and myspace. such as, writing a blog about our decision to start trying, and about the process of getting pregnant when you have infertility issues and such.

Even on facebook and myspace, my advice would be the same: Be sure to 'factual' so that people can really 'learn' about pcos - if that's you're goal.

i probably won't get very technical... i'll be blogging about my experiences, my emotions, that sort of thing. i was mostly wondering if it was a bad idea or not... but it doesn't matter at this point. i've already blogged!
i have actually lost my best friend over trying to get her to understand that i have pcos and how it affects my life and how i need support now and such. if you want to be public about it, good on you and hopefully the people in your life are more understanding about it then the people i have communicated to. i tend now to only write to this site as the responses are full of support and information, instead of people constantly questioning me about it. my best friend of 8 years decided that i wasnt sick at all and that i was just being lazy and trying to get sympathy. it was a hard lesson to learn that not everyone is going to be understanding or interested in learning about it so they can better support you through it, no matter how close to that person you think you might be.
hope all works out for you and good luck!
good luck in your quest and i hope all goes well for you, and just remember the girls here are more than willing to be there for support if you dont find it through other outlets.
