I see that you live in AZ. I was recently diagnosed w/PCOS and want to get PG ASAP. Who is your OB? Mine is fine with me staying on Met but said it is up to me. Does your OB leave it up to you or recommend staying on met throughout PG? Thanks so much!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!! Fantastic news! After two unsuccessful pregnancies, I had my son with both Clomid and Met, and am now preggo with my second with using Met after one miscarriage. Happy healthy pregnancy wishes to you!

We are TTC, and I am so glad for this research! I had been reading things similar to this, but I had not found it. I will definitely be talking to my dr. about this when we finally do get pregnant!

I took Met my ENTIRE pregnancy with DD. She's perfectly happy and healthy.
This time around, I'm being seen at a military facility and they have their "protocol" for everything. The refuse to refill my prescription for my Met because they say the studies on it are seriously flawed and it does way more damage than good. Well, my OB and RE back in my home state have given me enough refills to last through the pregnancy.
I was just wondering...has anyone else been told the studies (this one in particular) are flawed and misleading or that Met does nothing but hide true GD? I know some use Met as a crutch...an excuse to not eat right, but I think every patient should be treated differently.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to treat this pregnancy the same as I did with DD, but I'm just curious what others have been told.

Default I am new to this site...

My obgyn just started me on metformin. I have not felt any difference so far. I have noticed that my sugar cravings have gone down, well except for ice cream! I gave birth to my son almost 4 years ago, from using clomid. I don't want to get preagnant just yet again until I lose more weight. The last time I had a good preagnancy but close to the end I established high blood pressure. I just received a phone call from the doctor advising me that my good cholesterol is low and my liver level was a bit high. Now I am a bit worried. The older I get the more the symptoms progress.

I have had 4 sucessful pregnancies on Glucophage XR for the entire pregnancy all 4 times. I am 39 yrs old and we are currently TTC one more precious little one and if we are so blessed I will have another pregnancy while on Glucophage XR.

All the studies I have seen and all the ones Dr. Glueck (you can google him and email him with quesitons if you have any he will answer) have shown that being on glucopahge has decreased the risk of miscarriage and very much decreased the risk of the Mom getting Gest Diabetes. so i think alot of the ones that are against it really have no clue, IF it weren't for the glucophage I wouldn't have my 4 miracle babies.
