Well, I just took one pill last night instead of two (I usually take 2 750mg at one time). Going to take 1 pill for two more days. Makes me feel a little better. lol

I take full on Metformin.....guess for the same reason as you. It is the same thing. They have an extended release version out, but I never tried it.
I do have a question for you all though. My OB did say he wants me to take it at least to 12 weeks, so to me that suggests that he will tell me to stop it at about that point. How does the weaning off process work....like roughly how much for how longish...KWIM? I hadn't ever thought about weaning, I thought you just would drop it cold turkey one day, shows what I know....more questions for my first visit I guess.

I took half my met one day and forgot the next so now I am just totally off it. My Dr just said to go off it. I haven't noticed any difference in how I feel yet not being on it. I took the extended release, so I was never sick on it. I would take all 1500mg at one time at night ... sometimes with no meal. HTH

I had just noticed a couple others mention weaning off and thought it was standard or something, LOL. I was ok on the 1500mg too, but I have been queasy ever since he up-ed my dose, although I won't complain To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. I keep saying, when m/s kicks in, I won't know if it is met or m/s, haha.

Still not sure what to do but do not want a m/c. Many of the women in my family have had a m/c so i am worried.

My BIL is diabetic and takes met and isn't on the XR either and gets sick from it all the time. I just don't understand why Drs don't automatically put people on it. Let's just believe that it is m/s! To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. It makes it a bit more tolerable, huh? I remember when I had m/s a lot ... I was actually HAPPY about it! Talk about mixed emotions! lol

I remember when I had m/s a lot ... I was actually HAPPY about it! Talk about mixed emotions! lol | That is for sure! I know, it is funny to think of being happy with m/s...I remember with Anna that I felt sick more then I got sick (trying to not be TMI here To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. ) except at 12 weeks I hit a spell and had hyperedemis graviderum....I was heaving from both ends and was stuck in the hospital to prevent dehydration for 2 days.....whew, while I don't mind the m/s, I would definitely like to skip that part if possible, LOL (mainly because of Anna...not to mention it is scary). Seems like right after that ordeal I was 95% better with the m/s though....funny thing.
Definitely feel more resolved to ask for the XR....seems way more tolerable at this mg level.

She was sooooooooooo sick and kept saying she wasn't sure if she could ever have a 2nd child because she didn't think she could go thru that again. She lost 15 lbs and she was already very very thin. She's finally gained what she lost which is good (she's 20 wks along now). I hope you feel SOOOO much better this time around!!! I stopped taking met at the end of the frst trimester and the timing coincided with when they were doing my tests for gestational diabetes. After a lot of phone calls and a lot of confusion today, I have finally been told to go back on the metformin, that likely what cause the elevated results was me having just stopped the met. I still have to have a GD consultation and some other stuff - but just be aware if something goes wonky with your blood sugar in anay testing, please ask if it is because you stopped the Met. No one at my docs office knew anything about it so they had to call him in surgery. They were just going to put me on insulin right away, but now I am going back on met. and testing again in 4-5 weeks. What a circus it has been today!

My ob/gyn told me that eating low-carb is basically the same thing as being on Metformin and that as long as I'm not going too hard-core, is safe during pregnancy.
When coming off Metformin, it might be good to restrict your carbs (esp. sugar) for a while to have a gradual change...
I apologize if someone has already mentioned this.

As you can see my my low beta numbers, I'm barely pg so I'll be holding on to any last thing that will give me hope!

I asked nurse who called if I should go off of Met and she said yes. I asked for doc to call me regarding met but my doc has been away so another called me left a message to go off. Today was the first day that I didn't take any and am now freaking out -- especially after reading these posts! I go in for my second beta on Tueday 4/3 and will have the chance to ask about it again. Anyone know exactly what about PCOS increases miscarriage rate and why the Met could help??? |
