does anyone know any information on loestrin?

i was prescribed this bcp and am supposed to start it soon. i read once that it is for menopause which shocked me considering i'm only 21. does anyone know if that is true?

any info. or opinions would be of help

I took them for a whole year after my son was born. I quit taking them. They were awful. I bled all the time on them. That is just my experience. I think I also read somewhere on here that they were the worst to prescribe for PCOSERS! Do a search on them. Good Luck!

There are 2 kinds of loestrin strengths. They do tend to be more androgenic than some other ones out there but some people don't have any problems with the androgens in BC Pills. If this has been an issue for you in the past then try a lower androgenic pill. I have a friend who loves loestrin because it is the only pill that doesn't take her libido away. Compare it to others you have been on before or check the sticky at the top of the bc pill threads. It gives strength and side affect management tips. B C PILLs are totally trial and very individualistic on how you will react.

I was on loestrin for many years and I believe it caused my hirtism to get worse. I ended up conceiving my son on it. I was shocked to learn by reading the "stickies" that others mentioned that it is one of the most androgenic pills. I, personally would advice PCOSers to avoid this pill. But I've had bad luck with virtually every pill I've been on.
