Default Ingrown Chin Hairs

Sigh...I just finished plucking the daylights out of my chin hair yesterday, and now, I just ran my hand across my chin, and can already feel the hair again!

This is so frustrating, but I'm glad to have a place where I can vent about this....

So what do you about ingrown hairs? I have tons of black bumps across my chin...if I abuse them with the tweezers enough, I can pluck out the hair - but this of course, creates a series of nasty ingrowns.

I can also see several ingrown hairs that are longer, growing one layer beneath the skin...isn't that gross?

How do I get rid of them?!! I would love to lift my face and laugh one day, without worrying about someone seeing the array of hairs, bumps, and scars...

Please help!

I know exactly what you mean....

Unfortunately I have never been able to get rid of the ingrown hairs totally.

A routine that has helped me includes:
cleansing regularly
exfoliating regularly
using an exfoliating sponge very, very gently over the area when showering
using an ingrown hair cream
NOT TOUCHING the ingrown hairs.

You think I would learn my lesson by now but when I see them I cannot help but pick at them sometimes. ARGH!!!!

After all this, I must say that the best thing to get rid of the ingrowns for me was laser treatments. I am planning to go back to that very soon.

Thanks ladies..

I will try using an exfoliating brush/sponge on my face in the shower, and see if that helps...

Once in awhile, I have my chin waxed, and then threaded. It actually feels *smooth* when it's all done -- except the ol' prickly feeling comes back after a day or two.

Tweezing can become such an obsessive habit. Sometimes it's been almost half hour in front of the mirror when I realize that I'm still plucking away!

I'd like to try laser, but I'm trying to lose some weight first to see if it helps.

Thanks again!

OK- this may sounds gross. But I actually enjoy pulling out the ingrown hairs that have gone hairwire under the skin. It amazes me when I pull them out and they are 2 or 3 cms long!

Aside from that- I have found daily exfoliating to be the best thing to prevent the ingrown hairs.

Echobelly,

I know how you feel. I have the same problem. But mines isn't only on the chin. It's on the sides of my face also. I've spent many a hours plucking them out.

oomercyme,

I too enjoy plucking them up. One day I was amazed at one that was actually curled inside my face. It had a great bump, and created a scar out of this world.---That wasn't to enjoyable.

I use a loofah in the shower (no cleaners on it) and just use hot water to soften the loofah some. I scrub the area with the loofah and it has done wonders at reducing the number of bumps, pimples, and ingrowns that I get on my chin from waxing.

GOOD LUCK!
