Default Ingrown hairs--Solutions anyone??

Hi Ladies,

I have a huge problem with ingrown hairs, especially in the, um, down there area. It's worst when I try shaving (only had to learn that lesson once, at 16 years old!), and probably least bad when I get waxed by someone who is good at her job. Even with the best wax job, I still get ingrown hairs. And it's expensive.

So I tend to just leave it as is, but I am really unhappy with a big ol' bush! haha. Seriously though, it sucks.

My question, I guess, is what have you found that works for this, if anything? What hair removal method, and then also how do you get rid of them once they're there?

Have you tried any hair removal creams? sometimes they are good. You can buy the sensitive skin ones.

i find that shaving or nair works best for me, maybe if you tried a differnt razor, or different hair removal creams to see what works best for you.

I find the most helping thing is exfoliating your skin!!! I also have that problem on my face and down there!!! I have a Bruan silk epil - I think its the same as an epil lady it rips the hair from the root. Hurts the most the first time you do it but after that your skin starts getting less sensitive to it. I only do it in the bikini area...I'm not going for the bazilian wax thing!!! lol...i'm not that tough!!! I give the area a day or two(the hair folicles are a little red for a couple days) then I exfoliate the area with like a buff puff sponge(thats the brand name, but they are other types) - they are around 2 bucks here for a package or 2 and you can get them in the cosmetic section...
I do it everytime I take a shower, just takes a minute...
For the rest of the hair I use my hubbies beard trimmer from when he had a
goattie(sorry don't know how to spell that) it takes it right down but doesn't bother skin what so ever.
For your ingrowns, exfoliating is definately the best way of avoiding it!!!

Magic Cream is the ultimate best for removing hair. I use it for my underarms, legs, lower belly, girlie goodies, and butt crack. Only place it doesn't seem to work well is my chin.

I do shave, wax, or use hair remover cream. I also get those pesky ingrown but use a product called "Tend Skin" that is just amazing! It is a little on the expensive side but seems to be the only thing that speeds up the healing process for me, other than just waiting it out.

Hmm, okay. Maybe I will invest in some tend skin and magic cream, and give it a go. Thanks for the info!

I use tend skin (which does help somewhat but yes, expensive) and try to only shave once my skin calms down. Gonna have to give that Magic cream a try too from all the rave reviews! My skin sounds like yours, extremely sensative and prone to ingrown hairs. It sucks, it really does. I'm getting laser done and so far it seems to be working on my body hairs.

Certainly need some magic cream around here! Thanks for the advice. I can get terrible ingrown hairs too! I actually have had success with AVON shaving gel. Not very expensive and I don't seem to get terrible razor burn (legs or you know). I always try to use new blade for girl parts and it loosen folicles when you use washrag to exfoliate when itchy regrowth starts in a few days till you shave again. Helps to keep the ingrown hairs to a minimum. Hope this helps.

I get ingrowns bad. I've tried a lot of things, a couple that I've had succes with:

1) A+ Skin Care Products (www.aplusskincareproducts.com)

2) Coochy Products - the name is funny, I know-- but they make shaving cream and an after shave protection spray that work great. You can get everything at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/s.html?ie=UTF8...1&brand=Coochy)

I noticed a significant improvement in reducing my ingrown hairs when I changed to a body wash that exfoliates. I really only get them where my legs rub together and the bikini area. I've had laser hair removal on the bikini area, so I only have the inner thighs to worry about now. I dream about a day when my legs don't touch when I walk, haha!

Coochy Cream is THE BEST!!! I have been using it for about a year now and LOVE it!! Also, you can buy bikini cream, it's only $5-$6 at Walmart to put on after you shave. I used to get horrible ingrowns, but since using both of those, they have really settled down.
