Default Ingrowns from epilator

Hi girls!

I wonder if anyone else has the same problem: I use a Braun epilator on my legs. The hair grows back finer, and it does thin it out so I'm pretty happy with that (I used it on one leg alot more for a while and that one has alot less hair...).

One thing that bothers me is that some of the hairs just grow under the skin and I can't remove them, not by shaving or epilating. This only started after I started using my epilator, didn't happen to me with shaving.

I read here that someone said you need to exfoliate, I used to try doing it with a pumice stone but that doesn't seem to help. Now my legs never seem clear

Any thoughts / advice?

Thanks girls!

I have the same problem with ingrowns and I wax. I exfoliate with a pumice stone as well and haven't seen a major difference. I've heard that tend skin works quite well but I've never personally used it.

I use a body wash with exfoliating beads and an exfoliating glove. I probably do that 3-4 times a week and just alternate with a normal body wash. I still get the odd one but they're becoming less and less - I guess cos the hair isn't growing back so quickly (or at all) so the number of ingrowns has decreased as well.

I exfoliate with a scrub (I think a pumice stone might be too irritating) and for really stubborn hairs, i am usually able to pluck them with slanted tweezers. For the most part, the few ingrowns I have seem to be going away and my leg hair is super fine and sparse now.

I should add that I am not hirsute, but I think the scrub and tweezers should work for anyone and if you keep epilating and keep your legs exfoliated and moisturized, things should improve.

Tend skin is a product that helps ingrown hairs by deeply exfoliating skin. I think you can buy it on amazon.

I had the same experience with my epilator. I loved not having stubble but after awhile I started noticing the ingrown hairs...deeply embedded under the skin. It started out with just a few..then became dozens. Soon, the scarring started. I tried everything under the sun to treat it but nothing worked So about 2 months ago, I really examined my lower legs and saw how much damage I was doing so I quit epilating and started shaving again. For me, the epilator works great on my thighs where the hair is finer and less dense but I've really messed up my bikini line and lower legs..it will probably take a few months for the scar to fade. Just be careful.

I use Queen Helene exfoliating scrub. It's super cheap and works great. You can find it at Wal-mart, Rite Aid, etc.
