I've been posting in other threads about the success I've been having personally with regular Inositol supplements paired with Choline. I've been taking both since the end of last year and have:
- Lost 61lbs
- Lost inches/body fat all over (size 24 down from a size 32 when I started)
- Managed to lower my BP, although it's not FULLY under control just yet
- Regulated my cycles to between 28 and 35 days for the last 9 months
- Improved my depression so it's now under control with NO medicine or herbs
I'm honestly not sure about any blood work improvements as I haven't been to the doctor since January (no insurance), but I have a feeling I'll have some drawn soon, so I should be able to report better on any improvements in my blood sugar and cholesterol.
There is one other really huge success that only came to light a few days ago, and has left me completely shocked.
That was test 1 of 4 that I've taken since Sunday. I haven't been able to make it into the doctor's yet, but I am going to the Health Department on Friday for a blood test.
I definitely need to add that this was a complete, out of the blue 'oops'. I didn't temp, didn't chart, we only BD'd three times this month - yet somehow I managed to not only ovulate on my own but so far it's stuck.
I'm posting this to give people who can't afford the D-Chiro Inositol or aren't comfortable ordering offline hope. Yes, the regular Inositol is supposed to be 'weaker' and not work as well, but I'd say that 9 months to get to this isn't too bad at all.
I did eat right and exercise in conjunction with the Inositol/Choline combination (journaled, modified gi-diet and moderate intensity cardio and weight training several times a week), so they're not MAGIC, however they made it possible for my body to actually react to the changes I was making. I'll be happy to answer any questions (here or via PM) and I'll definitely keep the thread updated.
I'm well aware that it's still extremely early on in the pregnancy and *anything* could happen, but just the fact that I was able to get pregnant after 2+ years of trying was worth sharing.
There is hope - and it doesn't have to cost a fortune.

Reason: Adding to title so anyone not wanting to hear about / see + HPT can skip :)

Wow, congrats to you.
I just wanted to ask you a question.......when you say "modified GI diet", what do you mean ?
I just wanted to ask you a question.......when you say "modified GI diet", what do you mean ?
I was using the basic principal of the GI diet (carbs/proteins in a 2:1 ratio, avoiding as much 'white' carbs) and adapted my normal eating habits around it. Some versions I've read require you to limit carbs to 30g or so per meal, but I focused more on maintaining the ratio and counting calories than counting the carbs. It made the most sense to me as something I'd be able to live with long-term, since I'm still able to eat many of the things I enjoyed previously within reason and certain calorie ranges.
Thank you both

Congratulations to you! I'm always so stoked to see people announce pregnancies on this board - especially ones who've been trying a long time, as you have. It gives me hope for my own someday.
I'm new to the forums, but I've been lurking for a while. I just wanted to say that your successes have given me so much hope. I started the inositol and choline about a week ago, and have been taking cinnamon for a couple of weeks. You inspired me to try the inositol and choline and I can only pray that I have the results you have. Thanks for your posts and encouragement and congratulations!!
Congrats! Maybe I should have gotten inositol/choline instead of magnesium. Argh! HH9M!!

Yeah!!! You should cross-post this in the TTC forums too! I know there is some research on PCOS and Inositol for ovulation (http://ezinearticles.com/?id=1352250), so for others who might be interested in trying it, I'd bet they'd love to hear a "success story"!
And, like my RE says, GETTING pregnant is 90% of the battle... so you're 90% there!

Thank you all again I think one of the things that makes my success so much better is knowing that it can help encourage others, because I know how it feels to be on the other side.
JenSlayton: See, when I started the Inositol I didn't even realize all of the benefits that could be linked to it. In my research since getting my BFP, I also found out that it can be helpful in milk production, postpartum. I was definitely surprise! You're right about posting in the TTC forum and I'll follow your advice. Hopefully I can help give a breath of hope to not only those who can't or aren't following traditional medicinal approaches, but those who've been told they're too overweight to get pregnant or use any therapies.
Yeah, I had to lose 60lbs, but I'm still not a small girl by any stretch of the imagination.
BTW - I had my appointment with the Health Department today and I'm still pregnant. I'm hoping to get in with an MD within the next week or two, but right now my EDD is around May 2nd

Quick question- Why the Choline? I know why Inositol helps- but I haven't heard about Choline....
I'm going to be honest, I first started the Choline out of necessity - the only Inositol I could find was a Choline/Inositol blend. So, I got it and then did some research. From what I've been able to gather, it's basically a partner supplement, sort of like Vitamin D usually goes with calcium to help with absorption (I think I have that pairing right). The Choline helps the body process the Inositol better, plus it has some benefits of it's own. I've seen it mentioned in a few pregnancy-related studies and know it's found in tons of other multi-vitamins (especially for kids).
