Thanks so much for the reply, I'll increase gradually.. does it matter if it's powder or tablet form? Also what is the choline for? I recently purchase cinnamon and biotin because I saw it on here. And a probiotic I started yesterday... I read it takes a few weeks for everything to get in system to tell a difference. I also bought omega 3 with flaxseed oil, I am having trouble with them, seems like they feel like that get lodged right at top of stomach even if I take with food.. maybe something else or combination.. Anyway I appreciate all the advice and information on the forums...

Sorry I know this is an inositol thread but I have been wondering exactly the same thing... I have very low progesterone levels, which I understand means I have estrogen dominance, so should I avoid soy? And what kinds of soy (for instance I used to drink soy milk, has tha got anything to do with the soy ladies talk on here?) Thank you

Migraines are usually a sign of a magnesium deficiency. You might want to try a good magnesium supplement like magnesium taurate.

I'm never quite certain if it is okay to take things like this when on metformin. I take metformin, on which I lost a lot of weight, but I've been regaining a lot lately and am desperate to find something else that will help me regulate my weight. When it comes to inositol and d-chiro-inositol and other natural remedies, I wonder if it will cause the blood sugar to drop too low if you're also taking metformin. Does anyone have some insight about this?

July,

I read somewhere on mypcos.info that up to 1/3 of d-pinitol or myo-inositol can be converted to DCI in humans. So therefore we need to take 3 x the amount of d-pinitol or myo-inositol to get DCI. Sorry I can't find the link to where I read this...

J. Mc: I was taking Inositol and Choline at the same time that I was taking Metformin (well, actually, started the Met about 3mo after I started the Inositol). I've had no side effects or issues from it.

Miller: I prefer the capsules with the powder and never took the tablets. I would watch out for stomach issues, as I know several people who had problems when they started with the solid tablets but they were fine once they switched to the capsules with the powder in them.

Narcissa_Bell: I used to get migraines like crazy when my cycles were regular prior to PCOS going out of control in 2006. This time around, when they regulated, they never reappeared - though I honestly can't say if it was luck or the way the Inositol regulated things. I do know that most of the time the ones around AF are triggered by hormones and I don't think there's much that can be done.

Girls, I cant hardly believe, I have lost 24 lbs in 8 weeks or so, and 6 weeks of that time I was on Myo-Inositol! WOW! IT totally works to help weight loss. I am taking around 2 tsp per day, which is 4800 mg!!!

I really think the plain inositol is helping boost the effects of the DCI for me. I've been sick for about 4 days, which unfortunately hasn't decreased my appetite, but it has decreased my energy to work out! Normally, I'd have gained a few lbs. back but I am still at my lowest weight since prior to gaining weight while taking Hyponidd for 6 months! Down 14 lbs. and counting!

Hi Jill - Just wanted to update that I've taken a chance and ordered 3 tubs of myo-inositol from iherb.com. Each tub is 226g and costs US$12.99 each. The shipping was only US$6. The NZ$ is pretty strong against the US$ at the moment, so it works out super cheap, compared to paying NZ$69 for one tub of 115g. I don't know if it will get stopped at customs or not...I'm hoping it will not alert their attention??? It will take 5 days - 2 weeks to arrive, so I'll post again if/when I get it. Fingers crossed!

Update on progress - So far - been taking myo-I powder 1500mg/day, divided into 2 doses, for about 2.5 weeks. Started on CD7 of this cycle. Now on CD24. No O yet, but have lost around 2kg - have also been eating very healthily and exercising ~5x a week. Still, I have struggled to lose any weight this way before. Usually O at the earliest CD44 - and sometimes not until CD90. So, I'm hoping that my O will be earlier than CD40 this cycle.

I am also being treated by a naturopath who has given me homeopathic remedies, herbal tincture and stuff to address a 'sub-clinically underactive thyroid'. So - goodness knows what exactly (if anything!) is making the difference, but I feel like the myo-I has facilitated my weight loss because I have felt much less hungry since I started taking it.

Lil.

Herbsgirl,

That is amazing news- congratulations! I'm thinking I'm definitely going to have to add some MI into my regime.

Lil,

Thanks for the info ... I was looking at buying Myo-I through http://purebulk.com/inositol-vitamin-b8 but it sounds like your option is much cheaper!

I will look into ordering from them. I can't imagine there being a problem with customs. Would you let me know how long it takes your order to arrive. $6 seems like a really good rate for postage from so far away.

I added regular Inositol to my DCI yesterday, so I'm subscribing to this thread. I hope it works for me as it has worked for others; I've been on DCI for about two months with no obvious results.

You are right, it is amazing! Congragulations on the weight loss.

I am going to a dietican and it was hard for me to stay on my diet plan until I started Myo-Inositol. Once I got on the Myo-I, I still had to cut back on food, but it was much easier to stick to my plan and lose wieght!

Further update on ordering inositol from i-herb.com (living in NZ). 3 tubs of 8oz/227g Inositol powder (Healthy Origins brand - anyone else used this?) arrived today. That's pretty darned good - 9 days after I ordered them. No probs with customs or anything. Any other NZ cysters out there - I'd defo reccomend doing this. Soooo much cheaper than anything you can find here.

The other thing is...FF says I may have ovulated on CD21??? This would be like some kind of miracle for me. I have never ovulated earlier than about CD44 in the whole 18+ months that I have been charting. The thermal shift isn't particularly clear (and CM & CP signs are also a bit conflicting) - so FF has given me dotted crosshairs... I have been trying not to get too excited about it. But today, I have quite tender BBs -so maybe? I guess I'll know in a couple of days if AF shows up. I have been taking 1500mg inositol since CD7 - so ovulating after 14 days would be pretty quick work.

How is everyone else getting on?

Lil.
