Default Inositol (plan) & Stomach upset?

Has anyone experienced stomach upset from plain Inositol (I am not sure that the inositol is the culprit)? I have been mixing it into my smoothies, dairy beverages, tomato juice, etc recently - I have been trying to have at least one beverage with added inositol powder everyday lately but just recently I have had GI effect.

If it is the inositol, is there anything that you might suggest to ease the situation? Will my digestinve system llikely adjust with time? I am planning to lower the amount I take but I am hoping that I will not have to stop completly.

Anyone else?

Gas and diarrhea are common. Your choices are to take it in more divided doses or to lower the dose.

I take plain inositol (aka: myo-inositol) too for anxiety/depression (not for PCOS). It would give me gas. I lowered the dose to 1/4 tsp 3x per day. I recently started taking a multi-pro-biotic and that seems to have helped the gas. Maybe inositol promotes bad intestinal bacteria? I don't know.

Wow, That is all really good and useful information. Thank you Terriiii!

By the way since you started taking the Inositol for anxiety/depression did you happen to notice any difference in your PCOS Symptoms?

I don't think inositol has helped my PCOS.
