Mine was 89, extremely high. I was off the charts. The last time I checked it 34. I will be getting my next test results in April.

Holy moly!!!!!!!! Is that a really extreme case? Or is that the norm and the ones with the lower numbers more usual? I mean, our endo said under 10 is where they like it, so even at 34 you'd be too too high!!

LOL, yes it is the more extreme case. I was diagnosed in 2004 but I believe I had PCOS since 1994. I've had the dirty neck syndrome since I was 14. Never knew what it was, just thought it was dirt but now looking back it was insulin build up.

my doc said under 17 is perceived as 'normal.' being at 24 she doesn't want me on met quite yet .. she wants me to continue the diet and exercise i've been doing first for 2 or 3 months to see where my level hits. I was diagnosed about 6 years ago but only just had all my bloods done. I think my insulin isn't sky high only bc I've been doing the low glycemic diet for a couple months now. I am mostly really careful about eating slow release carbs and so my numbers were probably much higher a couple months back. also have been exercising & strength training. LL - what is yours ?

What the numbers look like on the posts, reflects whether it is read as mml/L or mg/dl. That seems to depend on where you are.
I asked on another post because I was having trouble understanding how one person's 34 could be considered high, and another person's 34 would be considered low?
My meter always shows in mml/L with decimals.
I guess when we put numbers on the forums we should add whether it's bases on mg/dl or mml/L.
We were watching my numbers carefully when it was decided to put my on Glyburide, but when I had my first Gestational Pregnancy, my reading was 21mml/L and they want it 6-8mml/L as a 'normal' reading.
Currently I have been only getting down to 12 - 15mml/L so I'm still working on getting my numbers down. Fuzzy Bear
I thought for sure my doc said mine was 155 when I came to him, but maybe I'm not remebering correctly. I should get another test in a few weeks.

Okay, it seems I've caused some confusion. SO sorry..... What I was talking about was the lab fasting insulin. The doctor said under 10 is good. My daughter (now 14) was diagnosed it was 21. It doesn't SEEM to be a high number, but it was high enough to totally screw her up. She could NOT lose weight. NONE. I started weight watchers 2 years ago, for me and the family. I lost 60 lbs, but she lost hardly, if any, weight. Then, she started counting points and started GAINING. That's when I took her in.
So after she started Met, her lab insulin levels went to 8, which is fine since it's under 10. Then the Met seemed to be not working so I had her levels checked again, and they're now 23. So we've upped her Met.
The thing that I'm wondering is...... are 'the numbers' indicitive of how severe the problem? Or is it all relative to the person? I mean, her troubles seem so severe, yet the numbers (in comparison) might not be 'that high'......
Interesting anyhow huh?

Wow, that is very interesting. i think it is all relative to the person. I would think the less that number is, the less problems you'll have. Maybe other hormones are involved. My levels was extreme (89). My doc immediatly placed me on 2500mg of Met. It is very easy to go back up if it is not closely monitored. I go in April for my levels and I can't wait. I really hope they are under 10 if not close to it. Although I feel it isn't. I can tell just by looking at my neck and in between my breasts at the dark spots.
