Insulin Levels??

Hi, I just got back from my RE and he said that my Insulin level was 377 and that was very very high. I have been on 1500mg Metformin since Nov 2001 and I was hoping that it was helping me.

My Question is this has anyone had levels this high and what did your doctors do? I have to go back Monday for another Fasting level.

Thanks so much for any answers that anyone could give me. I am just really confused about this.

If you are diabetic, how long have you been?

Do you keep good control of your diet?
If so, maybe you need a higher dose of met.

Keep careful control of what you eat and after your next blood test they will sort your doses.

Dont worry, they sort this out!

Mrsmavv, thanks for trying to help me, No I am not diabetic, He said that I have Insulin Resistance.

I try to watch every thing that I eat, I follow a Low-carb diet and I exercise every day.

Thank you again for trying to help me, I guess we will find out what we are going to do after I get the results back on Monday..

Was that 377 a fasting level? Even if it wasn't, you might want to demand a diabetes test or a different doctor! 377 is very high, expecially if the doctor is saying you aren't a diabetic. You need a second opinion.

Kathy, that was a fasting level, 12hours- I am really confused and I have a call in to my GP, to see if he can help me any. I know that I am going to go have the other fasting test done on Monday to see if it has improved any at all.

These are the tests that he has me doing on Monday:
Glucose Fastx12hours
Insulin
LH,FSH
DH,AS
Free Testoterone
TSH
Free t4
