Default insulin levels and losing weight

My doctor told me that my insulin levels and hormone levels are normal. I am over weight right now. Does this mean that pcos has nothing to do with my weight and I can lose it like someone that does not have pcos? Is there another reason for weight gain beside insulin being off?
