HI. I have read that some women have been diagnosed with insulin resistance
with as little as - 10 mIU/ml. I have seen this written on the site:
http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hormonelevels.html
as well as heard from women here that had levels around 10. I was wondering if anyone knows of any "official" web pages that state this, since the above page say written by patients for patients...which I think is great, but knowing doctors, they want something other than a patients p.o.v. I was hoping there might be a doctors site that might have this info or someplace that lists some refrences. I recently got my insulin level done ..again. The first time it was 9. However I started reading about insuline levels, and heard how you should carb load two days prior to the test. The thing is I have been on a low carb diet for two years. I'm thinking this might have some effect on my levels. In other words, it keeps it low enough to not be detected yet, not low enough to keep me from being damaged endocronologically . I do have so many other PCOS signs, in fact i 've been diagnosed with PCOS, but yet they were unsure about insluin resistance. This time i took the insluin fasting level, and I ate a little more carbs than usuall( still afraid to eat too many because , I used to have severe hypoglycemia when I did that) this time it came out 10.5mIU/ml. I think there's definately a reason to try metformin, and was hoping to get something to back me up as far as the levels being over 10. Any help apreciated.
P.S. I had also noticed that morning that there was a darkening of the skin in the fold of my arm. Which has since faded. Does the dark skin that comes from insulin resistance come and go like that or was that just a coincidence?
