I have been using an insulin pump, type 1 diabetes, for the last 6 years and have recently been diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance. Does anyone else have an insulin pump? Is anyone also on metformin and has it changed how much insulin you use? Thanks!

I'm not diabetic and do not have a pump but I am an RN. Your doctor will test your blood sugar, HgbA1c to determine the amount you should be using of both Met and insulin. One will effect the other.

*LOL* With PCOS...anything is possible. I was taking insulin and on Metformin. The Metformin didn't do anything. I am a type 2 diabetic. I use the pens. It is very possible it can, but you should be able to adjust your insulin on your pump according to what you blood sugar is then. It also will depend upon how often you test.
I have had diabetes since i was 10 probley younger then that but that is when I was finaly tested. I have been on the pump, I am type 2. I take both insulin and metformin. i dont like taken the shots but gotta. so yes you can be type 2 diabetic and be on the pump. I found it more confortable then the 3-4 shots a day. but the metformin i feel helps alot

Im a type 1 as well, but have been on daily insulin injections for the past 12 years. I am actually in the process of getting on a pump. I am not on metformin but I have met other type 1's that were on this as well for insulin resistance. I wish I could be more helpful. I am not a doctor or anything but I would guess the metformin would help you use the insulin you are injecting better so you may not need as much. Best to check with your doctor and good luck
