Hello ladies. My endocrinologist diagnosed me as IR a couple of days ago. I've been dxd with PCO since 1999. So what should my next step be? I have an appt with her (my endo) on Aug 29. What types of questions should I ask, and do you think she should put me on Metformin or something else? I'm currently doing South beach Diet (down 8lbs). What do you ladies suggest? I'm open for anything at this point! Thanks!

Congratulations on your weight loss! I personally like my met, I started on 500 mg/day and then worked up to 1500 mg/day (my current dose). I had some nausea/diarrhea when I first started (first week) but none when I increased the dosage. I also found that taking the met right in the middle of your meal helps cut down on the side effects, as well as not eating too many carbs! (Which you're already watching). Good luck, I hope things go well. Feel free to pm me if you need to talk!

It sounds as though you are on the right track with the South Beach. You probably want to discuss Met with her, but in part it may depend on how bad your IR is and how overweight you are.
Hey!! I am IR, but sadly the meds didn't help me any! I am currently taking vitamins. I hope everything works out for you! *hugs*

Thank you ladies for you replies. Did you have problems, or are you having problems, getting preggo due to IR?
