Sorry if there is already a thread about this and if there is where can I find it?
I was just online and I found a questionnaire about symptoms of insulin resistance and I have a majority of the symptoms. Irritability is #1. I have night sweats about 1 or 2 times a month sometimes every other month. I eat very healthy but if I wait too long to eat which for me is every two hours, I am a B****, I get the shakes and almost an anxiety feeling and the only thing I want to eat is pasta, pizza, or a piece of cake. I get the weirdest cravings. But if I eat my small meals, every 2-3 hours of fruit, nuts, whole wheat pitas with unprocessed meats etc. I am fine. Could I have insulin restance? I weigh 112 Lbs. I work out 4 times a week. But I am hungry ALL the time. My OB did a diabetes test on me which she said is normal. But two of my Uncles on my mother's side are diabetic and my grandfather on my dad's side was too. My sister is hypoglycemic and my father eats probably 6 huge meals a day but he is slender for what and how much he eats, he complains of being hungry all the time and if you get between him and a meal, watch out I am seeing an RE next week and I am wondering if I do need to consider Met. Any info you can share would be great. Thanks!

I think the RE will definitely be able to help you to work this out. It's possible you do have IR and s/he will be able to talk to you more about it, I'm sure.
One question - have you had your thyroid function checked?
I had bloodwork done to check my thyroid, not sure how accurate that type of test is. About 5 years ago I was convinced I was losing my hair, I was shedding a lot and two of my Aunts have very thin hair so I went to the doctor and they checked my thyroid, of course looking back it was probably PCOS and I didn't know it. They checked it again when I was dx with PCOS. My hair no longer sheds the way it was back then, but I also changed my diet completely, I used to drink regular cokes and eat everything carb. I also started excercising. A nutrionist I saw right when I was diagnosed had me take my BBT for 5 days to see if it was low, she said it would be a sign of thyroid issues, it wasn't low enough to suggests to her I was having problems. What were your symptoms? How did they diagnose you, was it by blood? Does the Met help you with your thryoid issue? Sorry for the 20 questions I have been in denial that there is something really wrong with me, I am starting to think there may be a label that makes more sense to me than PCOS, that it may be a bi-product of an underlying issue.

I'm not sure the answer to your question, but my doctor ddin't even test me for IR (he said the tests weren't very accurate) and prescribed met regardless. its worked 3 times now.
My primary thyroid symptom was feeling confused and tired, but I was hypothyroid and I was thinking you might be hyperthyroid. Don't know a lot about it, but I think it's associated with a high metabolism which is sounds like you have. The reason I suggest it is that I know sometimes thyroid issues cause similar symptoms to PCOS. Met does not help the thyroid imbalance, that's what I take levothyroxine (synthetic thyroid hormone) for.
I was diagnosed with hypothyroid by a blood test. I was diagnosed with PCOS by blood tests, a glucose tolerance test, a transvaginal ultrasound, and especially my symptoms.
