I was just approved by my insurance for LapBand surgery.....it should be within the next two weeks.

I just wanted to share my good news.......

That is so exciting!!! My DH really wants to go the route of LapBand. My friend had it done and she has just had the weight fall off of her!!

I'm having trouble finding insurance that will cover weight loss surgery, or anything to do with obesity for that matter, do you mind telling me what insurance company it is that approved you? and were there any special circumstances? thanks!

I have Highmark BC/BS in Pennsylvania. My BMI was 40.2, so I needed no additional co morbidities. It was a pretty quick process. My Surgeons' office was very helpful. Let me know if you need any more info Good Luck!!!

Hi I have Highmark BCBS as well did you have to go through all the supervised diets etc? I am so nervous they are going to deny me right off the bat!

I did have to go through the supervised program. I did 6 months with the Hospital I had my surgery at. They had a comprehensive program; you paid $395 for all 6 months worth of weigh ins, nutrional, pyschological counseling, etc. and if you insurance denies you, they refund the money. I lost 6 pounds over 6 months. They recommended that you stay within 10 lbs of your starting weight, which was much harder for me than I thought.
