Question Insurance & Laser Hair Removal??

Hello -
I'm new here...I have the same problem as many of you - tons of hair EVERYWHERE (I kid you not). I'm running out of places to grow it!
Just wondering if anyone's ever had any success in getting insurance to bear some of the cost for laser hair removal. I've been a few times & paid out of pocket (ouch!). Its worth the cost since I've had success...but it would be really nice for some of the burden to be lifted...anyone??
Thanks!
Steph

Hi-
I too have the same problem as you with the excessive hair growth... everywhere (I'm beginning to think I am a gorilla) . I don't know of any insurance that will help cover the cost of the laser hair removal, due to it being considered "cosmetic" and not a medical necessity. Which personally I think is discriminating considering most insurance companies will cover the cost of viagra, but not help cover the cost of infertility.... but that is an entirely different subject. I know the cost of the laser removal is way too expensive (for me anyhow) but have heard it works miricles. If you hear of any companies that will help cover the costs, please let me know.

ive done the same research and havent found anything.

they dont even cover the cream!! i dont remember the name but it starts with a v and reduces how much hair grows back...

i think that's terrible and somewhat of a doublestandard as insurance will cover the cost of numerous other prescriptions not deemed a *necessity*

the whole things makes me really angry when i think about it and when i pass a place that does it or read something i get really ranty to whoever is around... lol.

someday maybe things will change? i mean it is a medical condition causing the resulting hair so shouldnt that effect be cleared up since other symptoms are?
