Ok cysters, I just wanna see how many of us are going through this like me...I have no insurance, everthing is out of pocket.
I can't afford work health insurance..it's $100 per paycheck for only me, and does NOT include:
Dental
Optical
prescription
hosp. visits
Aster having to go to the ER(and paying around $900 out of my checks) I was told that my insurance wouldn't cover it. I dropped that like a bad habit REAL quick!!!

I have no insurance and pay out of pocket too! Luckily, my doctor just started giving a 35% discount if you pay the same day! Wanted to add that I have a prescription card from Nations Health--doesn't cost anything. Got my Met for 11.00 this month as opposed to 50.

Reason: additions
I am so fortunate to have great health insurance through my job. Even though I pay around $200/mo out of my check, it covers everything (including vision, dental, rx's, infertility diagnosis/treatment, specialists, ect). I only pay $12 for office visits and $10 for rx's.
I certainly know I would never be able to afford the basics of my heath care costs on my own. My hat is off to those who make the sacrifice to pay for their own medical costs.

my dh works for a small company and they dont offter insurence it suck and i dont work so we have to pay for it and i just found out for sure that i have PCOS.
carea
I carry a full medical/dental/vision/prescription plan through my work for DH and I, and I only pay about 100 a month for it. We also have life insurance, and short term/long term disability, but those are totally paid for by the company. I got very lucky in finding my job, and they happen to be a huge company, so the benefits are cheap.
Yeah, it sucks with no insurance. But my gyno is great...she gave me 70% off b/c of it as long as you pay the same day. I never knew drs did that. It made my day!!!

I have insurance through my work. It is paid by my work. My DH just switched jobs and can't get on the plan at his new job for 90 days. I'm terrified something will happen to him in the meantime.

We have insurance through the military. I don't pay for appointments or procedures, and I pay $3 for generic prescriptions and $9 for name brands. Only downside, is you have to go to the DR's in their book.

I have insurance through my work (small company) which is just basic and pretty expensive. It doesn't cover vision or dental but, everything else is covered. It was going to be $270 a month but, I convinced my boss to pay 1/2 and it works out to $135 a month(not too bad). I pay $7 for perscriptions and $10 copay for PCP $20 for a specialist.
$100 a week for insurance is ridiculous IMO! I would try to contact some other private carriers (they can also be pretty expensive but, might be better than that) in your area for quotes/info.
My Dh has family coverage. It just went up to $1000 deductible per person, $3000 deductible for the whole family. It includes dental & vision. Also, $5000 max for infertility. Generic meds copay is $10. The next preferred name brand med copay is $25 & the next name brand med copay is $40. PCP copay is $20 & the specialist copay is $40. I hate it went up. My Dh has Diabetes, high cholesterol, & high blood pressure. My DD has ADHD & ODD. I have PCOS & depression. We just have to have something medically done all the time. We're all a mess.
I carry my own insurance from working for a small company, but it's astronomically high. It's $360/month...And includes almost nothing. For one gyno visit (or any specialist...gyno is a 'specialist') it's $40/per visit. Prescriptions are $20/refill. No dental coverage, either. This is for HMO, too! (I can't choose my own doctors.) PPO, where I can choose my own doctor, costs $420/month! I chose HMO...I wish I could go without...The $360 is killing me and my budget.

I work for a small company, 5 people total. I work only 24-26 hours per week, but get full benefits paid for by my company which covered the majority of my PCOS stuff and the fertility Dr. My insurance is about $560 per month (only two people on our plan - one of the lawyers and myself) but it rocks.
