Intense pain in area of left ovary radiating down my leg...?
Hi ladies,
I just had an interesting experience and didn't know if it was associated with my endometriosis.
I never actually bled this past week, but I had all of the symptoms of a period: water weight, facial hair growth slowed, no appetite for a week prior to the onset of pain, and of course cramps with lower back pain.
I often have sharp/stabbing pains in the area of my left ovary, but this was different. It was a completely continuous (non-stabbing/throbbing) pain and not alleviated by heat, Vicodin, changing positions, etc. It was super intense: on my pain scale, a 9 out of 10 (with my scale, 10 is when I go into shock, vomit, then pass out- haven't gotten that bad in about two months, yay!). It also seemed really focused, as if the pain was originating from a spot the size of a half-dollar coin.
But the thing that really freaked me out is that it almost seemed to radiate down the left side of my pelvis and into my leg! My upper leg seemed weak- almost numb- and I had trouble walking on it. I was going to call my doctor if the issue extended into a third day, but it didn't, so I'll just talk to him about it in my next visit.
So anyone else experience this? I have a lot of other medical issues, but none that would cause that kind of discomfort.
Thanks!

Yes! Me! Before my laparoscopy, that was possibly one of the worst pain issues I had. My left ovary was covered in endo tissue and chocolate cysts, and the pain seemed to shoot down into my legs and even my feet at times. It would happen whenever - sometimes whilst I was walking and OMG it hurt! So far, since I've had the diathermy, I haven't experienced that, but still pain in ovaries.
Sorry you're going through it. I find that pain killers do nothing really. I try to drink fennel tea and have lavendar oil on hand to relax me.

*groan* That's what's SOOOOO frustrating about all of this: I just had surgery eleven months ago! Granted, I've had endo for ten years (first dx'ed via lap in 1999) and it's developed to Stage III, but still...I would have thought that last year's operation would have granted me relief for a longer amount of time. :-(

I think it is because all our nerves are connected etc. I just thought - have you tried reflexology? It could help you with this issue! xx
Reflexogy, no haven't tried it, but I'll definitely look into it! I'm experimenting with yoga right now and have found that the breathing techniques can actually decrease my pain a notch or two. Thanks for the suggestion!
