Question Internal Ultrasound

I had a pelvic ultrasound done this past friday (oct 22) and as the tech was taking the pictures and stuff, I guess she had a hard time getting closer to my cervix, I did mention to her before that I have a tilted uterus and therefore my cervix is turned inwards alittle more and harder to get for pictures. So she had asked me if I had ever had an Internal Ultrasound done. I never had and said that it was ok if she did one. Well let me tell you that what an interesting experience! I had never felt anything like that before, it felt like someone was lying on my stomach.

But I think she found something, because she had that look on her face it wasn't out of trying to get the right picture, I know it was something, but she wouldn't tell me.

I'm freakin out, because I have been having some Pelvic pain for awhile now and it intesified abit when the internal ultrasound was done.

What could it be? Has anyone had these done before and if so what was your experience like?

Thanks sooo much!

I've had many internal ultrasounds but they never hurt, were just uncomfortable. I have had some pelvic pain and I was told not to worry, it was just cysts, though some cysts can grow a bit bigger than normal and have to be removed. I'm not sure on that as mine burst before they get too big. When do you go back to the doctor to find out? GL to you!!

The first time I had my internal done the tech also made a different face. I thought I had PCOS and had the dr send me for the ultrasound. Of course, the tech didn't know why I was there, so I think she was reacting to seeing the cysts and thinking that I didn't know.

When I went to the dr for the results, he said that I did have multiple cysts on my left ovary. Everything else was normal.
How long of a wait do you have before you get the results from your dr. I had to wait 1 week.

I think it is the "not knowing" that is the most stressful.

Ummm ... I get my results from my doctor on Friday (oct 29), however I am going into the ER today because my pains have worsened and I have no idea why! I'm freaked right out.

I must be going, that's for the insight ladies!

Good luck at the ER and if you feel up to it, please let us know how you are doing and what you have wrong.

Thanks for the concern.

I got back from the ER and my physician was able to track down what my results were from my ultrasound.

Here is what it said in point form:

Quote:
"Endometrium appears regular measuring @ 11mm in maximum double layer endometrial thickness."
~~ Okay, if 11mm is the maximum in double layer, doesn't that mean I am cutting it pretty close or something? I hate it when doctors don't tell me everything! ~~

Quote:
"Right ovary is normal size with volume of 6cc. Left ovary is enlarged with volume of 13cc."
~~ Okay, is it just me, but if my left ovary, (which actually where much of my pain is located), is enlarged with a volume of 13cc and I feel the pain, that isn't normal is it? Cause if normal is 6cc and mine is at 13cc, isn't that cause for alarm, or not yet? ~~

The great thing is, there is no dominant focal cystic or solid ovarian lesion, or free fluid, whatever that means.

Is there anyone that could better explain this to me?

Thanks a mil!
