 introducing myself
Hello. I have been lurking for some time and have decided to join you all. My name is lucille (31) and dh and I will have been married for 10 years in June. We started casually ttc a few years ago and learned I was anovulatory. I visited an RE who suspected I might have PCOS, so she suggested BCP to get things evened out. When I went off the pill in March 2006, I gained 10 lb in one month and as time went forward my typically 40-ish day cycle grew to averaging 60+ days within a year.
This summer I started Chinese acupuncture and herbs and was shocked to find that within two cycles I was pregnant w/o any meds. Sadly, at 10 weeks, a missed m/c was diagnosed and I had to have a d&c at the end of November. I started having other complications in January and found out my d&c was not complete. I went back to the RE and told her my story, she did an u/s and saw my ovaries had many cysts, and she formally diagnosed PCOS.
Since my m/c, my HCG has been taking forever to come down, which emotionally is really tough. I was asked not to ttc until the HCG was at a safe level, but my RE had me start Clomid in February to have short cycles and help with reducing my HCG. During that time, I charted and took opks and used a fertility monitor, and my RE determined that my egg release was happening later than it should (based on temp shifts happening a few days before I'd get a positive opk). So she said when I was cleared to ttc, I'd likely receive an HCG trigger to try and realign my egg and lining timing.
At the end of April, I had an HCG of 7 and was finally allowed to ttc again. I took Clomid CD5-9, had an u/s with one 20mm follie on CD 12 and received an HCG trigger that day. Unfortunately, I just got my period today, so it was not a successful cycle for us. It has been a hard journey, these past six months, but I am trying to stay optimistic, even though some days are harder than others. Thank you for reading this long first post. 2/08 - 4/08 -- forced break -- waiting for HCG to go down (but taking Clomid to regulate cycles)
4/23/08 HCG = 7 -- finally allowed ttc again
5/08, 6/08 50mg Clomid & HCG trigger = BFN
6/21/08 supposed to start injectables, but scrapped b/c of cyst
7/7/08 Follistim (1 follie) & timed intercourse = BFN
