I'm new here, not new to PCOS however. I was diagnosed with PCOS, in 2000.
In, 2000 I went to a Dr. Glueck - in Cincinnati. He is well known for PCOS. Supposedly people travel from all over to see him. He put me on this high dose of the Glucophage, and I got pregnant within a few months. But, the side effects were driving me insane - and being pregnant - and everything. I couldnt take it. I went off of it, and was happy being pregnant, and a new mom - and just busy busy.
2003 - Tried to get back to see Dr Glueck, our Insurance had changed - he was no longer covered. So didnt see him, saw family doctor. She had no clue what PCOS was - didnt even care really. She put me on some small dose of Glucophage b/c she knew it was what I had been on once before, and she was satisfied with that - and basically never wanted to speak of it again. Obviously, this small dose did nothing for me in the entire 8 months, I want to say like 250mg Once a day or something. I quit taking it - out of frusteration and wasted money on such a small dose.
Now here it is. I called this Dr. Glueck 2 weeks ago, in hopes they changed their insurance policy or something. I knew I was wasting time, but what the heck. Called, and lo and behold!!! They did change their Insurance Policy, it switched over at the end of June! They now cover my Insurance, and I got an appointment for Sept 13th.
I am soooo beyond excited! I finally feel that I was given a second (or is that third? lol) chance??
So, that is my story. I am 33, I live in Ohio, I am married, and have a 1 son, 2 cats, and a dog. I live in the "country" parts of Ohio, my parents have a farm, and I have a few horses there too.
My goal is to lose 100+ pounds - Yikes! When I do this, I plan on getting back to riding more, and just being a much better, healthier, active person! I can't wait!
I will do my best to make appearances everyday, and add my not so knowledgeable wisdom - LOL - But, I am good at offering encouragement and hugs!
Right now, I'm just going to scan through and see what I see - and see if I cant learn some new found tips and help!
Can't wait to be a part of this supportive board!!
Welcome to SC!! I hope Sept. comes quick for you Sweets!!
