Unhappy Introduction

Hi. My name is Erica. I was diagnosed with PCOS last september. My husband and I are starting to try for our first child and I hit a major road block. Although I had been on Metformin my doctor decided to try to control my PCOS with just birthcontrol, but last week my bloodpressure was so high he stopped all medication. We had agreed to stay on the birth control for the next six months then start to try to concieve in January. Now I don't know what to do. I am starting to wonder if I need to get a second opinion but have no idea where to find a good gyno in my area. I feel like all hope is lost for ever having a child. I don't want to end up with alot of fertility drugs feeling like a hormoned beefed up milk cow. Maybe someone out there can offer me some advice or just some encouragement. Last night was a rough night emotionally, this morning I decided to seek out answers.

It probably wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion.

To find someone in your area, run a search limited to the 'find a doctor' forums below. If you don't find anything, create a post with a request. Be sure to put the desired location in the subject line.

Also go to pubmed: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/

Search on the terms:

PCOS 'your city'

or

PCOS 'your state'

and/or

PCOS 'major city near you'

This will (hopefully) return a number of pcos research studies that have been done in your area. They always list the doctors who did the research, as well as, the hospital or research institution. Frequently, email addresses are listed. Shoot them a quick note asking if they see patients or can refer you to someone familiar with pcos.
