Wasn't really sure what I wanted to say so thought I would start a new thread to introduce myslef.
I want to see who is in the same boat as me in terms of symptoms (or lack there of) and what treatment options I should be discussing with my doctor.
I do not have what I would regard as excess hair although I do feel that I probably have to shave my legs more often than my friends. I do not have acne. I am not overweight if anything I am a "thin cyster" .I have a normal BMI (5'7" and 126 Ibs). I have not undergone testing for IR.
I have not had a period since October when I stopped taking the BCP. Since then I have lost about 12 Ibs. I feel larthargic and depressed (the original reasons for me going to the doctors) and I am not sure if these are related to PCOS ... although the message boards here suggest that these symptoms could be linked.
I have just been diagnosed following blood tests which led my doctor to refer me for an ultrasound scan. The scan and the blood test results confirmed the diagnosis.
I am not TTC but would like children in the future. Should I be acting now to prevent further damage and complications?
Bit lost to be honest but glad that I have found this website and in particular the area for thin cysters .... if I read another piece of advice that told me to lose weight I was gonna scream!!!
Welcome! I don't have a ton of symptoms either. Mild acne, irregular periods, difficulty conceiving (although I'm on my third baby, so I've worked that part out!) and cysts. i really don't know much to tell you since I was diagnosed while I was ttc so all my treatment has been geared toward that. I don't know what the procedure is if your not ttc. Good luck!
I don't have bad acne, excess body hair or weight but I do have irreg. periods and a hard time conceiving.

Hi rebecca, you sound just like me.
Everything is "normal" and have a normal BMI.
However, my periods only showed up about once every four months starting around age 23 (i think).
My first doctor suggested that when not TTC, it is best to stay on BC pills because it will prevent complications such as endometrial hyperplasia. You want to have a period every month when you may have PCOS.
I've never had all my sugar work done up, but all I know is, that if I go too long without eating something, I get very very mean and I shake inside and out.
My advice would be to buy a calendar (like those day calendars) and keep a chart of everything. (when your breasts get sore, bad headaches, bloating, if and when AF shows up etc.) It will help you (and your doctor) when you want to start thinking about having children.
As far as management when not TTC...I have no idea.
PS. I have to shave my legs everyday to avoid scaring small kids.
Thank you for your responses I feel less lost and alone as I did when I first had my ultrasound scan. I am going to do as you advised and keep a diary of symptoms, feelings etc. to help me try and understand what is going on.
I have had the same symptoms for a very long time. Be diligent and you will beat this thing. Being thin can be a blessing and a curse because nobody ever believes that you aren't the picture of health, yet being thin makes it easier to have successful treatment. So, hang in there!
