I had a consultation for both IPL and Laser Hair Removal and really don't know what to do. Has anybody done either one? IPL is so much cheaper ($636 for 6 sessions while the Laser is $325 per session, and it could be between 5 - 10 sessions and then I'll have to keep going back for touch-ups), but it's down by a Physician's Assistant, which my mother doesn't feel comfortable about. The Laser is down by the dermatologist. I was leaning more towards IPL, then to Laser and now I'm just not sure. I have to make my decision before the weekend is up and I really don't know what to do. HELP!!!!!!!!
That's pretty expensive for laser. My laser sessions (for chin and lip) were around between $700-800 FOR THE YEAR... (That's the flat rate for as many sessions as I would need for the year...the procedure was done by an MD.)

I paid just under $1000 for 5 laser sessions (I bought a package). I'm very pleased with the results - they use Lightsheer.

I had IPL done a couple of weeks ago and am already seeing awesome results. Mine cost $250 a session for upper lip, chin and neck. I go back the end of the month for a check up. Good luck to you!!

Just wanted to share my experience, I had Laser treatments 6 yrs ago when they first were starting, spent $1600 on 4 treatments and ended up way hairier.
I have had 5 IPL treatments so far with much better results, I love it. I feel like this is really the answer. I was told I have the perfect skin-light with the dark hair for the treatments to work well. Each treatment has been $75. I can't say enough about them!
I have been considering laser as well. What is IPL?
Thanks,
Sharon

I had IPL treatment 2 weeks ago. So far, am very happy. When I went for my initial consultation, they told me I'd have to shave, rather than tweeze for 3 weeks before I could be treated, so I did. I had to shave morning, and night, and still wanted to tweeze on occasion. I've had one treatment, and still shave on occasion, but certainly don't have to twice a day!!!
The reason for all of this is:
Our hair grows at different phases, and the treatment will only affect those hair follicles that are in growth. If a hair follicle is dormant, it won't be affected, but at some point, that follicle may begin to grow. When you tweeze, you pull out the entire hair, so there is not a hair strand for the beam of light to follow, thus, the requirement to shave, rather than any other form of depilitory. I go in tomorrow for my second treatment, so will see how it goes. Here in Kansas, the cost for the chin (which is my main concern at this time) is $75 per treatment. I've talked with several people that are having IPL done (not just PCOS'ers) and they are all very pleased with the results!!! Good luck to all!!
