Default IR diet if not Overweight?

Hello
I was Dx a couple of weeks ago and I was also told that I have a slight IR. My doc didnt tell me anything about an IR diet, and from reading on this site I see that some women are told to do it. I am not overweight nor do I have many of the other symptoms of PCOS, just irreg cycles (since being off the pill), PCO, and high LH levels. If I am not overweight should I be asking my doc about a special diet? Before my wedding I had done atkins for about 4 months just to get super bikini skinny and although I was on bcp then, I was still spotting on days 16,17, and 18 of my cycle (the spotting had been occuring for about 1.5 years at that point, eventhough the first 3 years on bcp were normal). If I am not overweight can losing weight help regulate my cycle? I did ovulate last month and had a cycle of 31 days, and just started Metformin this cycle.

The IR diet is one that you will find in a book. It essentially has you combining your carbs and proteins so you don't have as many problems with excess insulin and with low blood sugars. I think it's a sound, healthy way of eating whether you're overweight or not.
