thanks for the info! I've been wondering what the IR diet was for a long time, just never got around to looking up the info. I'll have to check out that book.

Default Helpful gadget

Hey, for those of you you mentioned it was hard to keep track of nutritionals, here's a nifty little gadget: My mom got me a food scale as a present (she got my old one from a lab I used to work in) that has a database of thousands of food items. It calculates actual hard numbers by weight. That way you don't have to estimate how big an item is or go looking online. (Although there are some excellent online nutrition sites - I like nutritiondata.com because you can create a recipe and it will print out an actual nutritional label for you.) The one she got me was the Salter Kitchen Nutritional Scale. I've seen it and many similar models on amazon. It's nice because it is cordless and therefore easier to move around on the countertop to where I need it. It helps keep you honest. Or at least not deceive yourself! LOL Good luck everyone, I've always hated calorie counting and keeping track but it may be the way to go. People who journal and keep track have better success rates. *sigh* One more challenge for me.

This is the book I bought. I follow it, and I have no problem sticking to it. I eat Kashi whole grain foods a lot. I love their cereal bars, breakfast cereals, and cookies. I am not weighing anything or counting calories. I am not an overeater or an emotional eater, so I do not see the need. But, I am also following tips from Dr. Oz's book and dedicating a minimum of 30 minutes to exercise, eating 3x more veggies, and eating nuts with a glass of water before dinner to feel fuller. I do not feel like I am suffereing or deprived. I have only been going for a week, but I have not strayed at all. For me, this is an easy plan.

so if I feel really gross and nauseus a lot after I eat, especially if it's carbs, does that mean that I'm sensitive to carbs?
Sorry, just trying to figure all this out

I'm on day 3 of this diet. I am hoping against hope that I can follow this AND lose weight with it. I would love to read some success stories, etc from others who have followed this plan.

TIA,

Deborah
