On IR diet, trying to drink caffeine free diet soda, I can't find anywhere in the book about if this is an ok or even what it says about that.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Also, has anyone tried those dried green peas?
They seem to have a good ratio of protein to carbs and are low fat.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Also, what about eating broccoli and fat free ranch?
- where's the protein in there? Is that too many carbs only?
Will those carbs be stored as fat if I eat this combo alone?
Thank you very much for any help.
Regarding the diet pop I believe caffeine and artificial sweetners raise the insulin levels. I havent tried the dried peas. And I dont eat ranch dressing so I cant answer the other question. Hopefully someone can answer your other questions by me bumping it up

I stay away from artificial sweeteners. There is research that states they are worse for your body than natural sugars. I drink cold filtered water. It takes some getting used to but I couldn't imagine drinking pop now.
I drink no caf. diet drinks and they don't bother me a bit (I have IR). Many people I know with diabetes don't have problems with them bothering their insulin or blood sugar levels. They are considered diabetic drinks.

Not by everyone! Many medical professionals have commented on the problems associated with asparteme especially in those who are insulin resistant.
It doesn't hurt for people to be aware that if the are having problems it is worth cutting them out of their diet and seeing if there is any change.

I agree people should be aware of what effects them. Most diabetics and those with IR don't seem to be affected by diet/caf free pop. I was quite surprised that grains, even ones that are low carb effect me in a big way. I'm rare in this as many cysters can eat different low carb grains w/out problems. I will continue to advise other women with ir problems to eat lower carb grains, but I know how it affects me personally. The ADA considers diet soda a diabetic food.
"Some people with diabetes like to use sugar-replacements in their foods and beverages. For some things, it makes a lot of sense. Like soda. There's a lot of carbohydrate and sugar in a can of soda, so if you want to drink one without having to put it in your meal plan, you need to drink the kind with sugar replacements in it, the "diet" version."

There would be nothing wrong with you explaining how it affected you personally though, especially if there was some medical research that showed your experience wasn't uncommon.
However I accept that the use of artificial sweeteners is a hugely contentious big business issue with plenty of research stating there is nothing wrong with using them at all. Even so I would never advise anyone to drink any pop, diet or soda, especially seeing as the alternative is on tap

Maybe you didn't see the "Don't drink the water!" scare stories that were out a while back, lol. They seemed to be everywhere at once. We buy bottled water just because it's handy, but I'm not afraid of our tap drinking water because we get a detailed breakdown of what's in it every year. When I was first DXed with PCOS I drank a lot of water, but I don't anymore.
