I have read so many contradictory stories about whether or not fruit is a good idea or a bad idea.. Can someone please help me with this?? I am wanting to eat fruit for snacks (10am & 3pm) and for lunch, instead of bread. Is this a good idea, or will I be affecting my sugar levels just as much as what bread would???

From what I can gather, if you stick to the portion recommendation, some fruit have low GI's which means it (from what I can understand) raises your blood sugars slowly over the 2 hours between eating and testing, rather than giving your sugars a quick spike then a quick drop that follows.
So it should be OK for you to have fruit as a snack.

My rule of thumb is to try sticking to fiberous fruits earlier in the day. After noon, I don't eat fruit and instead focus on consuming fiberous vegetables. For example, I'll have sliced, raw pears at around 10 AM and maybe some blueberries in my cereal in the AM. For lunch, I may have some more fruit (again, a fiberous one) and in the afternoon, I'll eat a small salad and some raw veggies with hummus. Sweet peppers are a good choice for a PM snack if it is the sweetness you crave. What you need to consider is how your body will digest the food you eat. Slowed digestion will keep the foods from spiking your insulin levels like bread would. Fiber is great for slowing digetstion.
