Default IR and The Pill

I originally posted this under the newbie section but it was suggested I post here.

Ok, here we go, I've been reading posts for about 3 weeks now and finally got up the courage to ask my question.

About me: I have been totally exhausted with mood swings and getting fatter by the second, my periods have been totally irregular and am now getting acne where I really didn't much before.

The first gyno I went to diagnosed me with insulin resistance after a fasting glucose test and my tsh is 2.8 she said I was on my way to hypothyroidsm. (actually I don't know what that was based on)

Well, all of this and I don't know about infertility cause I've been single so damn long. NOW I finally have a boyfriend whom I love and would like to go on birth control. (condoms just don't cut it if you know what I mean) I've been told that if you're insulin resistant and you go on birth control you will be diabetic. The gynocologist who told me this is very holisitic and told me to change my diet and eat better. (I hope I'm not offending those ttc)

I'm going for an U/S tomorrow (went. THAT sucked. no results yet) and my PCP is running a "fatigue" panel and has put me on anti=depressants in the meantime to see if it helps (whew, I feel like I'm on crack..lexapro) and also cause i when she asked how I felt and I explained how tired I am I cried.

Any thoughts on the birth control and everything else would be much appreciated. Here or email or IM.

Thanks!

Hello,
My doctor told me the same thing. I came off the bcp's on my own not realizing all my menstruals problems over the years would come back. I was tired of gaining weight, and my blood pressure was high. So, I really shouldn't have been on them. I was on bcp's for 15 years. Now I hate them and what they did to me. They were a solution for my irregular cycles, but they covered up the PCOS and causes the insulin resistance.

My advice, please don't go back on them. Good luck.

Niki
