Is there any BCP out there that actually helps insulin resistance, or is it best to stay away from BCPs if you have PCOS and don't need them to regulate your cycles? My main symptom is insulin resistance/weight gain and that's where I need help.

Also, are Metformin and BCP a good combo?

I have a OB/GYN appt coming up soon and I'm thinking about asking for BCP, metformin or both. I haven't found a Dr. who is helpful or knows much about PCOS. Any advice??

Yaz/Yasmin have been recommended for PCOS women. I'm on it now, with metformin.

If you're having trouble finding a gyn, find an endocrinologist/gyn if you can.

Currently, no bcp can tout a claim to improve insulin resistance. However, a recent study has made it seem that drospirenone-containing oral contraceptives (Yasmin and Yaz) do not have the same metabolic effects as other progestins. You can read the study for yourself here:
