Hi there. I am one of those cysters who after coming off BCP had a pretty regular cycle, just no ovulation. I had a m/c in mid-july of this year. First AF came like clockwork 31 days later on August 16. Second AF hasn't shown yet.
Before I went on the pill things were off- I'd often go two or three months without AF, and when it was regular I had a 40 day cycle. But after being on the pill for 5 years, things evened out. I had AF every 28-31 days (once I went off BCP). I was off BCP for a year before I got pg. Now I"m not sure what to expect.
We're not ttc- granted we're also not preventing it. I don't think I'm pg- I don't O on my own and have no symptoms. I just hate not knowing when to expect AF.
Was anyone else's body/cycles thrown off by the m/c?
I m/c in May and went on break until August, no meds or anything, just me. I didn't get AF until I started taking met in August. I probably would have gone longer w/o AF if I hadn't started the met. AF is very unpredictable if you aren't taking anything to O. I know you probably don't want to take any meds but I suggest bcp, at least it would level out your pcos and you would have predictable cycles. The good thing is if you ever decided to ttc again, you are most fertile the first month off bcp. By the way, congrats on getting things started with adoption, hope everything works out well for you! HTH!

Jessica,
I think it is very common after BCP's to take a few months to establish your own rhythm. You might go back to those 40 day cycles, or it might take several months to get them evened out in any fashion whatsoever. When you've had a pregnancy, it takes a while as well. I think the big project is to get your health going in the right direction, either with metformin or without, and see if your PCOS is going to let you establish cycles as you recover from your m/c. I'm sure that the joy of inviting a child into your family someday soon will be good for your health, so watch out! You might end up with two at the same time... not such a bad thing, right?
I wish you luck,
Sheri

Thanks for the help. I made a doctor's appt to go back on BCP. It helps me with my cramps (I get very painful cramps during AF) and the whole acne issue. Its also nice not to wonder when AF will show. I see him next Monday. I'm just crossing my fingers that everything goes well.
And no, having two at the same time wouldn't be that bad. :-)
I can totally relate...after my d&c my cycles for 3 months were off. NOW they were ok till last month when i was off again. So we will see if AF shows up on time this month. Hope this has helped.

Well, out of total curiousity I took a HPT (yesterday afternoon and this am)- 2 BFP! I had my HCG tracked after the m/c until it hit 16 (which was back on August 1) so I don't think its due to leftover. I'm extremely cautious, and am not fully believing the results. I see the doctor a week from today (to talk about BCP no less!) so will get a test then.
For now, just to be safe, I am taking my Met, and hating every minute of it, but if I am pg and it makes this one stick, It will be worth it.
sweatpea, that is so cool! you've just brought a smile to my face--that's really amazing. I hope that your appt goes VERY well next week.
Take good care,
jen xx
