Unhappy itching of skin

I was just wondering if anybody has itching all over your body. I have not been diagnosed with PCOS, but I am having a lot of strange symptoms. Last July, I began itching all over. I take Atarax, Allegra, and Paxil for this. These are my symptoms: heavy irregular periods (never come at the same time each month), night sweats, hair loss (scalp), much facial hair (chin), around the nipples, on the abdomen, and I have had an ultrasound done and it said I have a large ovarian cyst on the left ovary. My GYN put me on birth control pills(Ovcom 35) and I was unable to take them d/t the itching getting much worse when I took the pills. The itching gets better (meaning I don't have to take any Atarax) the first 3 days of my period and then gets worse until the next cycle. I have had Thyroid testing and it came back "within normal limits." I have had blood work done, along with going to dermatologists, endocrinologists, and other various doctors. Lots of them say it's stress related. Does anybody have any suggestions? Anything would be appreciated !!!

My skin itches too... but that runs in my family..we keep the demo busy..it may be due to medicines...or that you are proned to dry skin anyway..I know what you mean when drs. say stress related..it seemed with me when they couldn't find the reason for my skin problems they just say..oh its stress...

I have exzema, right now my skin is crawling, I also scratch at night in my sleep ---I don't take any of the meds you listed above, but once took alegra for allergies, however since this is for allergies, I doubt it is causing the itching, you never know though.

I had something similar--a bizarre combination of oily and dry skin and for a while I felt like I couldn't win. (Any time your hormones are in flux or you start a new med which effects your hormones, you run the risk of developing skin issues of one sort or another.) If I used an acne body cleanser, it would dry my skin out more and the itching would be worse. If I used lotion, I would give myself an outbreak of boils...and the itching would be worse. I found my own solution in a very unlikely place--Dove "Nutrium." For some reason, this stuff moisturizes my skin nicely without causing an outbreak and I haven't had any itching since.

That aside, looking at your list of symptoms makes me want to ask what your thyroid levels were? (NEVER settle for an answer of "in the normal range" or "normal"--always get the actual value. Normal ranges are not intended to be diagnostic even though doctors treat them as such and often your results can indicate a need for treatment even if you are well within "normal limits.") Itchy skin often goes along with a good case of hypo...as does hair loss, fatigue, heavy periods, depression, PCOS...
